what with all that lazing in the bed so long!
Up and at em at 3 a.m. daily, including the weekends, first and foremost to check daily obituaries to make sure I don't see my name. Then, it's a huge mug of steaming, Army-strong, black coffee and straight outdoors...365 days a year.,,for an hour or so...weather, no obstacle to jump start the old noggin. Might be why family and friends suggest I find a hotel or motel when I visit. It's an old habit from over 50 years ago in the Army.
Best part is it gives me plenty of time to make reasoned decisions on people like Wes, rather than rushed, off the hip ones due to getting out of the frigging fart sack so doggone late! lol

You brought back some really nice memories with that poast. My dear departed Daddy was a cook in the Army Air Corp in WW2. Had some eye issues and couldn't fly so they made him a foot soldier and a cook. He was up at 4 every day and when he came home, he continued the practice until his death at age 78. He would get up singing, whistling, rattling pots & pans and have everybody in the house mad before 7 a.m. He cooked our breakfast every day until we left home and continued up early and then back down for a nap in his latter years. I can hear Mama telling him to "Hush Billy" right now! Thanks for jogging my memory!

I wake up at 4:15 to pee which makes the dog wake up and want to go out and pee. By the time all that happens, I'm awake and can't get back to sleep. Might as well just get up.
