I heard a snippet of a talking head saying....

Mar 20, 2020, 8:09 AM

That people who get covid19 and then recover might(probably?) be immune to reinfection. If true, would/could these post infected people be helpful some how to help spell the medical people? I've also read where blood donated from recovered people might be helpful.

If the recovered people are not shedding the virus then they could be used as a bridge between the isolated folks?

I heard that half of all human DNA is virus DNA.

Mar 20, 2020, 8:51 AM

And that viruses aren't exactly alive but they're not really dead either. And a peanut is neither a pea nor a nut.

This might be part of what you are talking about

and there are a lot of roles like taking out the trash, cleaning rooms, delivering trays etc that nonmedical survivors could do to free up nurses and techs to focus on care

That's what I took your OP to mean...***

its boring here in lockdown

It wasn't a dumb idea.

There are half a dozen ways to solve an equation. What you're talking about is just one study is examining.

So it's all Trump fault?

J/K, I think they were saying that individuals build immunity which can be shared with plasma being drawn from the immune and injected into the infected to just start their immunity.

However, the malaria drug is reportedly stops the virus from reproducing. The immunity system also complicates breathing because it adds to the buildup in the lungs which the virus creates.

What you're talking about is synthesizing a vaccine from the antibodies created by those who beat the bug.

With the flu bug, that doesn't work particularly well because the flu bug is a complex, dual-strand virus that is both really hard to kill and also mutates really fast.

Coronavirus-class bugs are not like that, and might indeed be a lot more susceptible to human intervention and vaccines. If the doctors can get on top of this, COVID-19 might end up going down a lot easier than a super-flu pandemic like Spanish Flu would have.

Maybe the one bit of really good news we're facing, actually. Once we beat the bug down and get it below R1 - that's the level at which the bug is self-sustaining in terms of infection-versus-die-off - it probably won't come back unless there's aspects to it we don't know about yet.

I wish you wouldn't say that. I thought I made it clear
