It is their Super Bowl. They will play the best they have all year to upset us… I’m not sure that mentality exists as much these days with the transfer portal. Most of these guys are mercenaries and are no longer competing for a playoff spot or any relevance.
These are not kids of the past that have been in a system and lost to Clemson 2-4 time, being in the program for up to5 years and have built a hate or rivalry. I think they roll over and have no dog on the fight. Best case for them is 31-10 loss, likely scenario is 56-7 IMO.

I think you hit the nail on the head-square!
The FSU players with plenty of eligibility left are likely already deciding what new school to portal to by now.
Not all of their players are from the portal; so I suspect some resistance "early"! But, unless Clemson comes out "FLAT and Uninspired" this game should not be close.
I would have loved to have had Jordan Travis at Clemson the last 3 years. If we had, all the Clemson has fell off talk would never have happened, "regardless of offensive scheme"! Many of his yards were from broken plays and run for it for a 1st down or pass it to a 6'7 or 6'4 WR downfield(last year).
In short, I agree with you 100%

Just don’t see the motivation you would see years ago. With kids in a program for tests that get the rivalry and writing love to wreck a season.

Yeah, and for FSU, "unfortunately for them", many of the Clemson Tigers that will walk into Doak Campbell Saturday have last years loss fresh on the mind. I.E. it will be just another game for those players. For Clemson, it will be more of a revenge game.
I might have a sliver of worry if we had easily beaten them last year and were maybe going into this game over-confident.
No way we go into this game with the big head. They are going to and have been reminded that FSU came to dV and won last year all week.
And combine that with the fact, many of FSU's players are probably checked out by now, I can see it getting ugly.
Some of them with pro-aspirations will want to play well against Clemson and Florida for scouts. A.K.A solid competition. But, many other mercanaries are likely half-way checked out by now.

Yes - similar mentality to NFL players on an awful team….
Their only motivation may be to “show out” for NFL scouts…otherwise I doubt the mercenaries care…

Personally, I think they have little fight left. But having said that, if I am the coach, I am going to try and convince them to sell out for this game. They still have us, Miami and ND as the ranked teams left on their schedule. I would try and jack them up and tell them the rebuild starts Saturday and just leave it all out there and pull off a victory, and we'll be changing the narrative.
So, I do expect them to come out and play some inspired ball for a quarter or so. If we can break them early, it will be a long day for them, but if we let them hang around for too long, then we give them some hope.
I think we will play well and have a good day. But, I certainly would not take anything for granted.

I really don't think it will matter, but I certainly don't think they are going to lay down for us either unless the game gets out of hand, which is what I am hoping for.

I disagree. FSU is on par with NC State on defense in terms of execution. More talent, yes, but execution is the sane.

If we jump on them early, say 14-0 or 21-7, I think they quit & lay down! But if we don't play well & let them hang around, their confidence will grow. Squash it early!!

I'm still a little surprised the line is holding around a 2 TD spread. Not sure what Vegas is factoring in to expect it to be that close. I feel like we should cover pretty easily but I always worry about the unexpected.
They will likely rally around the new QB! Vegas probably thinks "just having DJU on the sidelines makes the game more competitive"!
This is about the only reason; the line is holding where it is. Unless, Vegas knows something about this new QB we don't.

They are a talented "collection" but not a Team!
Too many players on FSU seem to be(from watching the quick clips) trying to be the next breakout star. Often, that "hero ball mentality" can be exploited.
Somebody on defense who doesn't cover their area for example; because they want to make plays on Video against a quality opponent like Clemson; can get exploited. They might even make a few plays; but it will catch up to them.
I think their anxiousness to play Clemson so they can show the next school what they bring will hurt them immensely.
42-7 Tigers win! 49-10 if the starters play a little longer; then backups get a cheap FG.

It’s a road game for us, not them. Any early turnover or adversity can amp whatever home crowd they have and make it a tough environment. That is their best chance to compete - especially considering they played well against Cal at home. It needs to be a true business trip. Handle business. Let’s hope there isn’t something structurally wrong with our D this year that Norvell exposes with a new QB and about four new plays.
