Recently in the local (North Carolina) newspapers about potential big time basketball players who are being heavily recruited by ALL the major schools. These kids will be available in 2018 and 2019 to play big time basketball. The schools chasing these kids seems to include everyone but CLEMSON! Wonder why we choose to ignore this kind of talent in our own back yard? Why does our coaching staff not offer kids who will likely be top 20 national players and sure NBA picks? There is a good story in today's "observer" about this kid from Charlotte who everyone's is after but no mention of a Tiger offer. Something is wrong here!

Maybe we did offer but didn't get a mention. Every time you hear about a FB recruit you never hear their full 30 team offer list. They always mention the historic great teams first, Clemson is not one.

This particular one today is Wendell Moore from Cox Mill High near Charlotte. Offered by Roy Williams as a freshman! Mentions UNCC among other powerhouses like VPI and WF but no. Clemson. There have been a number of others.

until CDS came on board. Didn't go after the big guys because you didn't think it would happen. CDS made the push to get Spiller and things have blossomed since. We need a 'CDS' in the basketball program.

The PAW brand nationally, because of football, has never been higher. Due to our brand being in the national spotlight in so many positive ways, it permeates through the entire athletic program to include basketball. The basketball program should be taking full advantage of our prestige, but there is no evidence that we are doing so.

Evidence? How about Brad having his best class ever last year?


BBall team are small. You don't offer 40 kids every year. You don't alienate achievable recruits by offering 10 higher rated guys at the same position.

Let's set some things straight:

1. Clemson's coaches are not somehow failing to recognize top high school basketball talent.
2. Brownell has offered many high profile recruits, and has narrowly missed on a few of them and majorly missed on others. However, their lack of interest was not due to our lack of trying.
3. If a player does not show interest in Clemson, we are not going to pursue him. This happens regularly, where we reach out to a great player and he does not show interest in return. These players are not worth our continued time and attention.

Some questions for you and others who keep posting this crap:

1. Do you really think that Brownell and his staff are not aware of who the top recruits are?
2. Do you really think that they don't reach out to these players to gauge their interest in Clemson?
3. Do you really think that our coaches think so little of themselves that they don't even try to sign some of these players?
4. Do you always assume when you read an article - and don't see Clemson mentioned - that our coaches aren't recruiting him or haven't tried to recruit him?

Think about it. Please.

I've thought about it judge. There is a young man in my community who is a big time prospect and has offers from many school. He plays for a private school in a nearby city. His father is a personal friend of mine who I see very often. NO ONE from the Tiger coaching staff has been in contact with this family. This kid is a much better player than half the guys on the CLEMSON TEAM. An honor student btw
