I can’t pretend to like the current state of CFB, but I have to admit that I would gleefully giggle if Texas Tech were to curb stomp Ohio State in a title game.

Hoping for another team to lose usually indicates your team really sucks. Just sayin’

I've seen firsthand how they do things in Texas via my family

there.
Down on the SE Texas coast there is a relatively small school district of which a cousin was the head of the district. On a trip a few years ago he took me to see what they had done to their stadium complex, and was I stunned. They had been having a drainage problem, so they bulldozed the entire complex, raised the field, put in new seating, lights, concession stands, a football operations' building and an indoor practice facility, for God's sakes! All new parking, new entrances, scoreboards, you name it. The price tag was in the millions, so I asked him if they had floated bonds, raised property taxes, whatever to pay for it. He laughed, and said, "Helllll no, we paid for it out of the Booster Club's petty cash, and we ain't broke!"
I mean it looked nothing like what I remembered and would outdo smaller college facilities in S.C. I knew oil and gas money paid for all that, as I know of the huge lease holdings throughout that area. It's how those folks pay for a lot of things there. They, also, have huge fundraisers, one of which alone pays for all the uniforms, equipment, the band, etc. Staggering.....
The attitude there is whatever the team needs, they get. There is no quibbling. And it helps that that school stands at the top of the rankings in their division most years. The number of students: less than 300! 300 frigging students...and they spend millions without a second thought to build a state-of-the-art facility!
One other thought: the whole community shows up for games, home and away, most in pickups with gunracks and huge beer coolers! If at home, after every game they gather at a nearby watering hole for heavier libations and a certain amount of gambling! lol

I'm all for capitalism, but in a sport setting how well does that term apply in ensuring competitiveness? I'm not saying everyone has to be cookie cutter but should their be some standard met and those not meeting put in a lower division or something like that? Philosophical questions I am sure that many will debate.

Plenty of oil off the coast in the Atlantic, but the feds have made drilling off the East Coast nearly impossible.

There is no telling who is recruiting better. We won't know until they are 30 and we see who are better men.
