Spiller vs. Feaster
Jul 29, 2015, 11:30 PM

When spiller came to Clemson, he weighed 190.
Feaster is already at 203 and just as fast. I'm thinking by the time he plays his first game he will be in the 210 range.
That my friends is insane... I can't wait until he steps for on campus

I expect more out of TF than CJ produced.

I don't remember CJ getting much help from the Oline. Seems he had to sidestep somebody to get three yards. TF won't have to go through all that.

We were always having to get Spiller "in space" for him to really shine IMO. Our OLine was almost non-existent at times. It's better now, but still has a ways to go.
I hope Feaster can be mentioned in the same sentence with CJ Spiller by the time he leaves CLEMSON. That would be huge.

TF hasn't even dressed out in NCAA gear and folks are comparing him to Clemson greatest all time player. Just like you I'm hoping he can pull that kind of load.

running between the tackles, and has always (and still does) have a tendency to look to bounce runs outside too often. He was still tremendous, but James Davis was much better at running between the tackles with the same line, and even Ellington had more success with it than Spiller.

Yea our line was not great when spiller was here...i mean we had a couple good ones but the unit as a whole was not very good... if these guys end up being as good as they should be we should have a very good Oline by his soph season and he would be nasty...also we are loaded at WR and have a much better passing game which will help the running game too. I think we will see that this year some, we dont have a great line but teams will have to respect every single wr we have and we will hit some big runs.

It's kind of crazy how far we have come along since we had him. For 2 of his years, we had Napier as OC I believe.
I also think that Tavien is more college ready coming out of high school. I remember that Spiller would have an awesome play every now and again, but his freshman year i thought he danced around a little too much.
I think Tavien is more of a North South runner that can also run around you and juke you.

Napier was the OC for Clemson 2 years but only 1of those years included Spiller. Harper and an injured Ellington were the RBs the second year I believe.

Right now we have 10 OL next year

I'm guessing we will sign a couple more. It's pretty common to have injuries on the OL. It's going to take a couple of years to get the line built.

We also didn't have as many go-to options when CJ was there.

They key on TF, we'll kill them with one of our other star playmakers.

Idk about him being faster than Spiller

Maybe in a straight line its about the same but as far as acceleration i think that's all Spiller. Feaster is the better all purpose back because from watching his high school film it seems he can get those tough yards that Spiller wasn't really able to do in college. And like many have said, we have a much better offense than when Spiller was here. Back then, if he didn't have a good game then our offense as a whole didn't have a good game. The WR and QB position is light years ahead of what it was in 06-09.

defense we'll be a surprise to everyone but the few who've kept up with the development and maturation of our defensive players. Our coaching staff and players know what time it is too.
Our line backers and the rest of the secondary could make a girl scout troop look good as defensive linemen. Don't count out the fact that our offense will keep opponent's offenses off the field plenty too. That lets their guys cool off, puts pressure on them and rest our first team defense.
This season is going to be a heck of a ride for Tiger Fans!

I do think Feaster is ahead of where Spiller was coming out of high school. Spiller was just a pure freak of an athlete but didn't always see/make the best cuts, especially early on. I remember saying that Davis was a better RB by knowing the position and hitting the holes (when our line could produce). Spiller produced by just out-talenting the defense. Either one was sure fun to watch.

The flip side to that is Jamie Harper (5star) came in

210 and also quick and agile for his size and never didn't anything. Only thing he did that I remember was that superman catch against FSU. Other than that he started the coot 5 peat streak with that fumble. Had he not fumbled we would probably scored again that drive and made it 17-0 in the 2nd qtr. we all know how that ended up.

I've watched Feasters highlight reels. He's a perfect sized back with a great combination of power/speed/elusivesness. He'll do great at Clemson. He'll have a much better line than what CJ was afforded.
However, I don't think Feaster has the speed/acceleration/shiftiness as CJ. Spillers High school highlight reels are still the most impressive I've watched.
Again, Feaster should be very productive at CU - probably from day one. He is a different type of back than Spiller though, imo.
Very happy he's coming to Clemson !
