Coach Speak
Coach Speak Like many of you I am eagerly awaiting the Florida State game this week. Part of the anticipation is to see what will develop at quarterback.
I have tried to move the conversation to other areas often on my radio show in the past week, but many want to gravitate back to the

Is it just to get hits? How can you spout off the disparity in snaps taken, then say things like "hasn't Watson proven something".
4 of Watson's 5 scoring drives came against SCST. Why bring that up? Those stats are only used when it's convenient for the "anti everything" crowd. It wasn't convenient last year when Cole shredded them.
I don't understand how you can claim to support this team and staff, then put out a blog that basically stirs up a non-existent contoversy.

DW is very talented, and I would not be surprised to see him take the reigns at some point...
but to say he as "vastly out performed Cole", or that he has "clearly shown he is ready" is absurd

It's to the point that people almost want Cole to fail

The back up QB is always the most beloved player on a team imo. Remember how many people last year thought Cole would have been a better QB then Tajh because of what he did to SCST?
Cole is going to play and Watson is going to play. As the year goes on and the staff learns to trust him more Watson may in fact start. However that time is not now.

I usually never post on this site, but I feel compelled to speak after this "controversy".
I do trust the coaches to make the right decision, and I think so far they have. There was no need to play Deshaun the whole game against Georgia. It was our inability at Oline that allowed Cole to struggle that second half (and conservative play calling).
But the fact of the matter is this: If you think Deshaun is less talented than Cole, you are not watching the same game.
If you think Deshaun is a kid who will lose all confidence with a bad game against FSU, then why throw him in the fire at Georgia?
I think cole is an average quarterback who worked his tail off. And nothing can take away that dedication to this team. But I just don't believe he is a leader in that locker room. I can't see those guys following him. Not like an FSU follows Winston, or a USC Jr follows Shaw. I honestly believe Deshaun can be that guy.
Again I respect Coles dedication, but I honestly don't see the leadership on the field. I think the coaches are clinging to the hope that Cole can just "manage" the game. A championship team needs more than that.

however that's not the issue and the coaches have stated as such.
Watson is the future everyone has stated as such. However you can't expect every freshmen to be CJ or Sammy and immediately be ready to be the go to guy at his position. Even Winston and Manziel took a RS before taking over the team. No matter who the QB is the transition from HS to College is challenging in more then just on the FB field.

According to last year's SC State game, playing Cole would have made us undefeated. Coaches really did blow that didn't they!!!

Just when things have died down a little.....this comes out that stirs the pot again. It is what it is....Get over it. There are plenty of other situations and topics that can be discussed going in to FSU. Go Tigers!

I agree York. Here is the difference. If the offense plays the last 19 plays as well as the first 50 against Georgia, this isn't a conversation we are having.
The question of who should play QB is simple answer. They will play both and go with their best option longer. It is that simple. And while Deshaun did rip up SC State, he did not against Georgia.
And the bigger situation isn't QB. If we have learned anything in two games is that it is the tale of two offensive lines. If the one from SC State shows up in Tallahassee Saturday, I will call the upset. If the one from the second half of Georgia shows up, well....you know. Either way, I am All In with my Tigers!!! #BeatFlaState

If the OL from SC State shows up?

The OL play vs Sc State wasn't ask that impressive if you ask me. The pass protection in particular left a lot to be desired. State just didn't have the talent to expose it. The run blocking wasn't much better either.

Deshaun is clearly the future. Cole is nothing more than distributor/manager surrounded by play makers. Deshaun IS a play maker. Sure Cole is the "senior leader", but there's just something different when Deshaun is in. He's got the IT factor. We'll see how he does when he's thrown into the fire on Saturday night. I have a lot more confidence is his play making ability than Cole's when he's running for his life.

There are at least two good arguments as to why DW should play more, you missed them both because you wanted hits instead of reason.
