If you only learn one thing from Joe Paterno, it should be to never be the highest-ranking guy with a secret. It doesn't matter how great you are in every other aspect of your life if you know something and didn't do something about it or at the very least report it.
Dumb way to tarnish what would have otherwise been an incredible legacy. I did see that they decided to give him back his wins during the settlement. By any measure, we all will remember the figurative asterisk that accompanies his lifetime achievements.
Unfortunate for those children and families that were affected. If it were me, I would not have been sated by him (Sandusky) spending life behind bars.

He definitely should be. I have no doubt that Kirby will be even worse, if not already, and Bobby Bowden should be prominently mentioned near the top of the list.

I personally knew one of those guys. His younger brother was one of my roommates. The older brother was in fact embarrassed and humiliated about what he did. Got caught up in win at all cost. He paid a very high price for it too.

but only because they got caught and received the death penalty.
Meyer and SMU were some of the biggest cheaters in college football history. In fairness, while other teams/coaches have been involved in far worse things, SMU got caught cheating (paying players and their families) multiple times while they were already on probation for cheating, refused to cooperate with the NCAA, and then lied and conspired with others to lie on their behalf.

Hard to believe none of these guys knew what was happening at their institutions or that they were not corrupt people themselves in how they operated.
Glad we have Dabo! Some may talk negatively of him, but I guarantee you if he were the head coach of their favorite football team, they would turncoat and love him like we do!!!

To me there is a difference between
1) letting other people pay players while knowing about it
2) paying players
and
3) recruiting/playing felons and hiding their crimes or pushing off trials so they stay eligible
and I did mean felons because rape and murder and assault are different from shoplifting, stealing laptops and stealing shoes.
To me, 3) is much worse than 1) and 2).

Joe Paterno . dispicable human being and a disgrace of a program.
Georgia is not as bad in terms of # of occurrences but let's just be clear, it's bad
Kirby Smart is an awful leader running a program that has zero respect for women and zero respect for endangering the lives of others
