I would be disappointed if he turned into a Heisman QB because we would miss out on him and the optics would be unfavorable
However, he didn't pan out for us as a 5*, got beat out, and transferred.
He seemed like a nice enough kid, didn’t embarrass our University, and I believe tried hard while he was here
I hope he does well for the rest of the season, with the exception of our game. He can stink that one up as I’m not that nice
Let’s move to GA, put forth our best effort and see what happens
Go Tigers!

Don’t disagree with that at all and feel the same way. But I think the attacks on DJ individually are unwarranted

He is being paid money, probably a good bit of money, to play college football. If you, as a casual observer of his games, want to criticize him I fail to see that as a problem. I will say the drive to tie it at 21-21 in the 4th was pretty good with at least 3 really good throws. But honestly that’s what should be expected of any good college QB.

I agree, but unfortunately it is sometime people around a person or the press that makes people dislike someone and really for no good reason. I like DJ and think the is a fine young man. It is just some of the people around him that have soured his persona .... not him.

I honestly believe he is a great guy, no doubt! Has some family issues apparently and I have been there done that and it affects people differently.
On that note I was more apt to pull for him at OSU and cannot pull for him while at FSU. Juvenile, for a middle aged man, but I’m just being honest. It definitely should not come across as anything personal by any stretch.

A)Big Dave's mouth. B)The coddling by Swinney. C)The lack of care and heart on the field. D)The fact that he's undeniably physically talented but just doesn't seem to get it. E) The portion of this fan base that tried to make it a racial thing when he was benched. F) The fact he went to FSU imo is a middle finger to Clemson.
These are the key contributing issues that created the disdain for a good kid like DJ and I do believe he is a good guy and a physical specimen in raw arm talent just not a QB.

no one should be dogging DJ, he does not call the plays. He made one bad pass and 2 clutch plays in the 4th.

Agree on the “he doesn’t call the plays”. Disagree on the “he made 2 clutch plays in the 4th”. As a 4th year QB he should be able to make those two throws with ease, 3 man rush and the middle wide open.

He’s just generally slow. Slow to develop the running plays, slow to make the read and slow to find his receivers. He’s a slightly worse Kelly Bryant.

He is highly overrated and simply can NOT handle pressure. His football IQ is very low. He was given ample opportunity after opportunity here and was incapable of capitalizing. His tenure set us back several years. After he transferred to OSU, he made comments about the “system” here and how he was “utilized”. I don’t care what system he’s in or how’s he’s utilized, he’s just not very good. He’s a bust. Now he’s at FSU. Why would he transfer to FSU? He, and his father, want to “show” Clemson what we missed out on. Ok, I say bring it. He’s going to get his opportunity and, imo, he will fail miserably. The folks that say he is “more Clemson” than 99% of folks on Tnet are delusional. He isn’t loyal to Clemson. He, and his father, are full of spite for us. Pull for him if you want. He’s irrelevant now.

He didn't transfer to Florida St to "show" Clemson. He transferred there because it was the best opportunity he had.

Or he is at FSU for the $$$... It's a smart move for him, he won't be an NFL quarterback, he should get the most money he can in his last year of college football. I think heard on here he is getting about 2 million this year? I mean should he take half that elsewhere just to not go to one of our rivals?
That said I'm glad he isn't on our team anymore as he just simply doesn't have it in him for us to be a top 5 team.

Watched him combing his hair during an interview after a loss and thought, “why is he so worried about how he looks right now? He just lost.”
Always had to listen to coach speak about what a great teammate he was. But it never showed on the field. It was frustrating.
Finally, he transferred. He plays against Clemson within the conference. As a fan of Clemson, totally legit to dislike the guy

I personally think he doesn’t give a #### about winning. He likes being a part of the team and likes the money and fame. Your hair combing point is spot on… have you ever really seen him hustle or get act like he really cares? Some will talk about the 4th quarter, which is exactly my point. He plays hard when he wants to. That’s not a trait you want in your starting quarterback.
Nice guy, yes, but not a hard worker and I’m glad he’s at FSU.

People can say it's player bashing or whatever, but the proof is in the pudding. Forget about Deshaun and Trevor . . . those guys are in a different category as far as talent and "want to," but how about Tajh Boyd? People make comparisons on here and try to downplay what Tajh accomplished. They forget the guy had over 1,100 yards rushing in three years. Can you imagine DJ standing up to the pounding Tajh took in that LSU game? Tajh was a team guy. Much respect to him and those who compete with that level of intensity and will to win.

For me, it's more of an "I told you he wasn't that good" and to see that proven correct shows that it was a DJ problem, not inherently a Clemson problem.
Now, in all fairness, was our roster less loaded in 2021 than in 2020? Sure. But he didn't step up his game. He didn't give us 50% of what Trevor did. Then he transfers and craps on us and we're all going to see how good he can be at Oregon State. He didn't move the needle.
My FSU friend texted me about halftime today and said "DJ is awful." I replied, "we tried to tell you!"

I remember when DJ was here and the advanced stats were that he averaged NEGATIVE .3 points per pass 3/4 ways through the season. He's an awful QB but a good person. There was a point he threw a pick six every other game.

Because he was part of establishing a narrative that Clemson is slipping and can’t develop QBs. Unfortunately, he chose to lean into that rhetoric which opened the floodgates. Having the hubris to come back to the ACC to our biggest intra-conference rival was the coffin nail.

Mostly it's his father. But, there was this: "DJ described the Clemson offense as "basic," said it failed to play to his strengths, and called the play calling timid." --The Athletic, 2023
Is that what has been wrong at the other schools?
