Assumption 2: All HS recruits want to play at Clemson, if only Clemson would ask them.
Assumption 3: Clemson never asks them.
I apologize if in my push for brevity, I've neglected to mention other key assumptions.

No we don't think we offer zero portal players. We think we don't offer competitive NIL packages.

Do you think as a percentage of available portal targets that a butt load means 75%/three of every four? Or less? Or maybe even more?
(Same for recruits).
And, where can I go to see the data on NIL competitiveness? Last I heard, NIL data was still largely opaque, leaving people to their assumptions around whether a particular school's collective is in a financial position to offer competitive packages. And while you're on the topic, what is a competitive NIL package these days?
If there is an NIL data clearinghouse, please let me know I'd be interested in comparing where Clemson is with other programs in terms of NIL deals offered, and how they stacked up against others.

Most assume that Clemson has the $$$ to buy everyone, Dabo's just standing in the way.
It'll take all Clemson can do, to hold onto the starters on this team, most likely already being contacted by other schools with offers.

I believe we should selectively use the portal and I don’t think most who think the same believe #1 or 2. As far as #3, I’d say few have been called and none have accepted, excluding 3rd string grad transfer QBs.

do not forget they do not listen to what Dabo has repeatedly stated...
1. He and the staff evaluate every position for need.
2. He wants developmental players vs plug and play provided he has people already in those positions
3. He does not oppose the portal, he opposes tampering
I will add; as far as I know, he does not have an unlimited budget to buy players and the cost of keeping players keeps going up... South Carolina just "negotiated" a deal to keep Stewart Dylan for a mere $1.5mil... seriously? That is larger than a rookie contract in the NFL...

Now you're telling me Clemson has chosen not to land those players.
I'd say you are correct. We have chosen not to land players that would improve our roster. No one thinks we could get anybody/everybody we wanted, but common sense tells us that we could get a few that would help. Literally every other program has done so.

I was pointing out that I've discerned that most portal pumpers seem to think Clemson never asks portal players and recruits to come play for Clemson, otherwise, they'd all come play for Clemson.
Suggesting that Clemson has passed on certain players who have shown an interest in coming to Clemson in no way implies that Clemson cannot land them.
Please point out the players that Clemson has chosen not to land that would've made Clemson better.

Up opposite of TJ parker would have definitely improved our defense.
Can't say for sure but it seemed we didn't even pursuit a DE last year even though it was obvious we were going to be thin there.
I heard talk about o lineman but no DE.
Again, you stated it pretty clearly. We've chosen not to land players. To me it's more of a stretch to assume we can't find a single player that would improve our roster when literally every single program has.

I have read that Clemson's criteria for portal players is:
Top level talent - Which would assume all the players in the transfer portal are top level talent.
No Guaranteed starting spot - Assuming the top level talent in the portal is looking for playing time and wants a guaranteed starting spot.
No NIL money until the athlete has proven himself on the field - Assumes the top level talent that transfers because they didn't have the starting gig wants the money up front.
Sounds to me like Clemson is all about the portal. On CLEMSON'S terms not the kids.
The hook in all this is a player that has a program convinced that they cannot win without him.
Clemson's upper hand in this, thanks to Dabo, has been "we're going to win, do you want to be a part of it?" If that were not the case, then we would be no better that UGA recruiting kids regardless of their character, academics or with little regard for their own future as long as they were darn good football players. Why would we expect that to be any different with the transfer portal.

Why would a portal player want to play somewhere that has avoided his kind like the plague? It is very possible that many in the portal collective have made the logical inference that portalling to Clemson would be like a Christian moving to any country in the Middle East save Israel, 2nd class citizenship, 'red headed step-child treatment. This is the whole we dug, handicapped ourselves as TP recruiters but no mind because we have yet to make a legitimate effort to acquire anyone via the Transfer Portal. So we have the sting of our public perception, a side effect of a self induced handicap to deal with if we ever do truly pursue a player in the portal
