People here are getting tired of Trump using possibly the worst disaster in our history as a prop, and are gonna remember it on election day. His BFF Mark Robinson turned a lot of people off now this will probably swing the tide for undecideds

I don’t know. I’m hearing directly from people in N.C. saying they are disgusted with the Harris/Biden response to the disaster. I guess you run in different circles

I have family all over N.C. and you are correct that people are tired of the BS. But it’s the BS from the current administration they are tired of. Sick of the incompetence.

I know a lot of people who are not going to vote for either. There is definitely a Jan 6 no vote sentiment amongst several people I have spoken with.

- - - has compared Trump / J6 versus Harris / Biden threats to America’s system of government and (reluctantly) admits that Trump is the better choice.
Gordon Sondland was fired by Trump. Most of these career Washington types are career-centric narcissists. They will change political allegiances according to which party offers them the best job prospects either in government or in NGOs.
Despite being canned by Trump, he has figured out that J6 isn’t nearly as bad as what Harris / Biden have done … and will continue to do … to Americas.

Then they can’t get enough of it.
The emergency response to Helena is a combination of local, State and Federal responders _with some assistance from public organizations. It seems to be very similar to other large scale disaster responses. Most people including the media do not understand emergency response incident command, priorities, assessment and tactics. Perhaps competent professionals are responding in a competent manner?

I think the Feds are doing the best they can. Local authorities and private individuals are much more capable of assessing immediate needs and providing help.
The federal government has deep pockets and in the long run will be able to provide assistance, but in this case as in other disasters, private organizations and individuals are much more nimble in the immediate aftermath to meet the needs of local communities.
The Governor of N.C. might be better off to cede overall control to the military at this point to coordinate resources as was done after Katrina.

Should be coordinating efforts under some semblance of a Unified Command. Each resource will bring different capabilities. Response priorities and tactics will evolve.

I'm in western NC and people seem pretty mad about the govt response so far. If you can spin that into it somehow being Trumps fault to help you sleep at night then bless your heart.

Having never lived through anything other than Hugo (Charlotte Area), I’m not sure what type of response the government usually provides in these situations.
What type of assistance are folks expecting that they aren’t seeing/getting? Serious question.

This will depend on CLT, Cary (Can't Afford Raleigh Yet) and Raleigh. Maybe the reason for lack of Helene support from the feds is to make voting difficult or inaccessible to western NC citizens.

Or maybe you’re just making #### up. Tell me, what do you think is a reasonable period of time to expect a complete infrastructure rebuild in a 10,000 square mile area? I have absolutely no doubt that there will be lots of folks unable to vote in the upcoming election, conservative and liberal, but that’s just a function of the scale and magnitude of the event. To spread baseless claims that it is somehow an orchestrated attempt at voter suppression is irresponsible.

What was your major?
Wilber is ChemE and had a very successful career. ChemE is arguably the most difficult major. It is typically the hardest to matriculate into as well.
It amazes me how the lefties on this site constantly call us names and threaten us and just basically lose it all the time.
No place outside of Tigernet has anyone questioned my intelligence and in fact quite the opposite. Yet here it happens all the time.

I assume you have people in your life who trust and admire you. Even when disguised/posed as a hypothetical, people hear or read baseless crap like that and it just further propagates and reinforces a false narrative. Again, I just think it’s irresponsible when I do it, you do it, LBB does it, or celebrities/politicians/content creators do it. It’s one of the things that’s brought us to where we are today…so divided over what really just amounts to bullspit.

And private citizens are two steps ahead of any government help. Citizens are cleaning roads and line workers are getting power up. Most supplies I’ve seen are by way of citizen delivery. There’s a warehouse full of supplies we donated to off Upward on 26 but it didn’t look like the national guard was in any hurry to distribute.

Harris isn’t going to win NC. The polls had Biden leading by 6-8 points all of 2020. Trump never led the polls. Yet won the state by 1.5 points. He is tied or leading in all the polls this year. It won’t even be close.
