I feel sick...

Sep 21, 2014, 1:45 AM

Clemson continues to just not take over the game when given the chance and when they appear be the better team. I feel like throwing up right now I'm so disappointed and sick after that loss. On the goal line, Legget was hurt and Cooper has been hurt since before UGA. Seckinger's helmet had just flown off so he had to sit a play. Kinda hard to run goal with only one TE in that being McCollough so I won't be so hard on Morris for that. No excuse in OT though. When have you ever seen a pro team go shotgun on 4th and inches? Or even a top team in college at that? But the bad snap on the goal is inexcusable. Norton started every game last year so there's no excuse. CJ Davidson played well up until the fumble. Gotta score in the redzone and make field goals. My heart goes out to guys like Stephone Anthony, Grady Jarrett, Kalon Davis, Charone Peake, Corey Crawford, Robert Smith, Mackensie Alexander, and a few others. They played their a$$es off and deserved a win tonight. The Grady Jarretts and Stephone Anthony's of the world don't come around often. Grady's a great man and a one of the best DT's I've seen at Clemson. Same with Stephone at linebacker. Awesome guy and a hell of a player. I have been a die hard fan for this team all my life and I am sick of Clemson throwing away their opportunities and losing in the spotlight when the games on the line and it's gut check time. We have a curse and can't break it. At most people think we are decent and are 10 game winners every year. Yes we have won against LSU Ohio State and Georgia in recent years, but those were two bowl games and a non conference game. All fantastic wins but I'm waiting on the game (particularly FSU) to win that puts us in the drivers seat for a special year which I know we can do. I have all the confidence in the world in Dabo and the guys we have, but I'm tired of losing the ones that matter the most especially when the team showed they were better than FSU tonight. The term "Clemsoning" was reborn tonight and it sucks. Hopefully we win out and play good football the rest of the year. I'm Ready to see Watson have total control of the offense (and a freaking fullback in the game for short yardage). Hate to see the bad guys win all the time, pun intended (Winston, even though he didn't do crap from his suspension). I believe we are not the program every sees us as but we have to prove it by winning when it matters and not in consolations (bowl games). I believe in this team and will never stop. Go tigers

I thought it was pretty decent if I do say so myself.

I didn't finish your whole post, but I'll address this part

about top college teams lining up in the shotgun for short yardage situations. Oregon, Auburn, Florida under Urban Meyer, Ohio State under Urban Meyer and under Tressel in his later career, West Virginia, Michigan, and Arizona under RichRod, Texas A&M under Kevin Sumlin, Texas Tech under Mike Leach, Oklahoma under Bob Stoops on several occasions, Oklahoma State under Mike Gundy on several occasions, among numerous others.

You guys are acting like this isn't a normal thing. It is actually what the majority of teams are doing in this era.

I even saw Denver do it a couple times last year on 3rd and short with Peyton Manning in the shotgun.

It's not at all uncommon in college and can be seen in the NFL probably every Sunday.

They put 9 guys in the box on 4th and 1. We had 5 lineman and 1 tightend to try and block 9 guys. Tough to concert against that. But still QB sneak could've worked also. The point I'm saying is to have a lead blocker whether it be another TE or a fullback.

Also, Michigan and Ohio State aren't exactly top teams. But until we have a Peyton Manning type player you can't really make that comparison because he's smarter than most coordinators in CFB. Alabama, UGA, and even FSU know to go under center in short situations. Especially on the goal line or in critical moment like in OT
