on fox news. Trump tried and almost succeeded in “stealing this country” as he now accuses Dems of the same.

https://news.yahoo.com/tense-jan-6-video-shows-170350184.html

The video was shot by one of the “peaceful tourists”, Damon Beckley, who was found guilty of obstructing the electoral college certification and of civil disorder. Beckley is set to be sentenced in February.

I thought Fox News wants to be tough on crime.

This is a clear example of Fox News viewers, simply not being aware of what’s going on in the world around them.

Just to fill in Trumpers and Maga folks, on January 6, 2021 Trump sent a mob of his supporters to march to the capital. Some of them were violent and attacked law enforcement officers. Hundreds of them have been charged and majority have been convicted and sentenced.

These defendants have been charged and convicted by both democrat and republican judges and prosecutors. Fortunately, with the separation of powers, our judicial system has been able to bring justice this far.

Do Fox News and Trumpers support American law enforcement officers?

Do Fox News and Trumpers support our constitution?

Please share links from Fox News . com to this video.

Trump Almost Succeeded?

While I was very angry and upset over what unfolded during the January 6th riots, Trump did not come close to succeeding in "stealing this country."

For anyone to take control of the country it is going to take far more effort and weaponry than a bunch of disorganized idiots armed with flagpoles.

Jan 6th was a very ugly day, but we were no where close to Trump remaining in power.

I don't want Trump nor Biden elected. To me one is a bad as the other for different reasons, but I am not worried about Trump becoming a dictator. He does not have the backing of the military or the police for that to become a reality and I think it's highly unlikely that that will change.

I'll live with the results of the voters while many Dems seem to want to have a Fail Safe initiative to thwart that.

It's a shame that we have Trump blabbering about himself incessantly and Biden essentially running on being the anti-Trump as he would otherwise lose running on his record.

All the hand ringing over Trump becoming a dictator to me is silly. If Trump wanted to become a dictator, he had the 4 years to do so while in office and most coup perpetrators don't wait on an election to try to gain power.

It's an old page from the Dem playbook. Pubs gonna take granny's Medicare, Social Security, put blacks in chains--straight out of Biden's mouth, and now we're gonna have a dictator if you don't vote D.

The rioters who engaged in violence should be strongly punished. The ######## who walked around mindlessly in the Capitol much less so.

It was a serious riot, but we didn't even approximate Trump staying in office.

I mean, in order for him to "steal the country," he'd need the military to back his coup attempt and I firmly believe they would not have gone along. In fact, quite the opposite. I think they would have shut it down had it gotten really ugly.

Make no mistake: Some of the Jan. 6 criminals intended to murder Pence and Congress members. They thought they could have taken over the nation. Trump probably hoped it would happen so he could declare martial law.

All the hand ringing over Trump becoming a dictator to me is silly. If Trump wanted to become a dictator, he had the 4 years to do so while in office and most coup perpetrators don't wait on an election to try to gain power.

Here's the problem with this statement. I think Trump already kinda thought he was completely in charge until he realized he would lose 2020. Then he took action to try to secure a dictatorship, but he and his people were too stupid and didn't have enough military support to pull it off. Enough folks on the inside have come forward to state they tried to find a way to strong arm power away from the people and Congress.

Had Trump known this was the end game, he would have implemented more of a dictatorship during his four years. And if he gets back in there, he'll make sure it happens this time.

I don't really think I argued the opposite. I said he would ATTEMPT to use the military--and he did. He just wasn't successful at it. But he did try to get the military to back him on a coup and his people posited the idea as well.

I would also ask: what would have happened if the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys had indeed succeeded in hanging Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi?

At that point it could well have been ball game. Trump would then have had his pretext to declare a state of emergency and invoke the Insurrection Act for a riot he himself had instigated - irony, there - and at that point it would have come down to whether it would have been his orders or Mark Milley's the Army would have followed...and of course, you know Donald's first act would have been to (try to) fire Mark Milley.

Would Milley have stood down, or defied Donald Trump? That I don't know, though there's plenty of subtext that indicates Milley probably had worried about exactly that situation arising and had a plan in place to deal with it. Donald wasn't being subtle; he was telegraphing out loud what he intended long before J6 went down. And Milley is hardly stupid.

I still think we were a lot closer than we'd have liked to think.

Had Pence bowed to Trump and the mob, and counted the alternate electors, Trump would have stolen the election.

It came down to the patriotism of one American. I'd call that almost succeeding.

Declare martial law, have the military confiscate the ballot boxes, and put off the vote count indefinitely.

This is not conspiracy theory stuff here--it's what Trump's "advisors" had talked about.

we have in place keep that from happening. However.

Trump has become significantly more deranged since he left office (hard to believe, but hearing him talk is scary). Also this time he will put people in high offices that will do whatever he says. He didn’t have that last time. I hope that between the military and the Supreme Court, despite it being more conservative now thanks to Trump, we can avoid a dictatorship, but there’s no guarantee.

Ultimately it would be nice to start from a place of not having a president who has dictator as his goal. That is Trump’s goal. Let’s hope we can prevent it. I think we will, but we shouldn’t even have to have that conversation.

The point is that Fox News refuses to show their viewers the realities of January 6. If someone gets all their news from Fox, they are unaware of trumps misdeeds. Sounds a bit harsh to say that, but it is true.

If you want to talk about, “did Trump come close to stealing the country”, you must consider that a significant number of Republicans did not vote to certify the 2020 election results. A total of 147 Republican members of Congress, out of a total of 468, objected to the certification of the Electoral College votes on January 6th, 2021. This was:

8 out of 51 Senators
139 out of 221 Representatives

These are weak scumbags that are 100% subservient to Donald Trump and not the United States of America and the constitution.

It is stunning that anybody could support trump or any of these legislators after what they did a January 6.

And just this morning Trump filed a motion seeking to have the criminal conspiracy case against him in Georgia thrown out by arguing he is “protected from prosecution under presidential immunity”.

This suggests that since he was president, he could do whatever he wants.

I fully understand that he has fooled a lot of American voters that lean on Fox News as their sole news source.

However, it is stunning to think he can fool judges, lawyers and Americans with brain activity.

It’s remarkable that we had guy in the White House that has left us debating whether or not Trump supporters were serious when they threatened to kill American politicians, what would’ve happened if they had physically attacked American politicians, what would’ve happened if Pence had not acted against the president, if the GOP controlled Congress that day would they have approved the votes that all of us cast???????

Quite a few horrible scenarios that none of us thought we would contemplate in our lifetime. All of this brought to us by one individual. Trump is by far the most un-American president and possibly the most un-American politician at the federal level.

Can anyone name another American politician that has brought the country to the brink of such crime, fraud and breakdown of the constitution?
