of these big jobs. I think they have a great shot to be in the playoffs. He has done something in what seemed like an impossible situation.

Really pulling for Tony and the Hoo’s.

2025 will be the first time he's had a winning record as a head coach, ever. He's never even had more than 3 conference wins. You have to do a lot more than that to get a big job.

Yeah, he barely beat Washington State and had to go to OT to beat a terrible FSU team.

Probably going to need more sustained success vs a potential one-year wonder that may be in the making.

He absolutely walked into a tough situation. If he can reel off more successful years where they are in the conference hunt and can win his way into a CFP, he's likely punching his ticket to a bigger football school if he wants it.

That said, I could totally see him sticking it out at Virginia if he gets it rolling. School has great academics + donor base could rally behind him to make sure that the football program has deep pockets to be contenders.

He came into this season 11-23

He's now 17-24.

This season, the win at Louisville is looking really good, but there's not much else there. They handily defeated teams they should beat in Coastal Carolina and William and Mary. They also had a dominant performance against a bad Stanford.

Other than that, they barely squeaked by a horrible FSU in two OTs and needed a 4th quarter comeback to defeat 3-4 Washington State at home. They also lost to a mediocre NC State team.

They should finish 10-2, but that's largely due to their schedule.

I'm glad Tony Elliott is finally finding some success, but he hasn't at all proven he can consistently lead a winning program. A "big job's" AD would be absolutely insane to consider him at this point. If he can string together three or four 8+ win seasons in a row, the narrative would change, but he really just has this season to hang his hat on right now.

Seriously. What has he really won as a HC?

NOTHING. So why would his name pop up for a big HC job?

Yes he is doing very well. Virginia is not the easiest place to win football games. He spoke to the fact that they were way behind the chains as far as facilities.

If he turns VA into a yearly 8-9 win team he will get a bigger shot, if he wants it.

The way this pathetic fan base is there will be no one with half a brain that will deal with the tigernet fools. Think Erskine college when looking for a coach and that would be too good for this fan base

It won't until after the season. If he pulls a surprise and wins an ACC title ( not impossible honestly). His name will be mentioned everywhere. Unless UVA acts fast and give him a big extension which is probably more likely.
