Greenville and I never liked Furman.Their fans are the most
arrogant uppity people I have ever dealt with.We have always
beat them and I hope for a stomping of the Purple and White.
Lets say 56 to 10.Go Tigers.

Their “FU til you’re purple” has not aged well.

Wouldn’t have flown back in their Southern Baptist days.

They're like any other university

I've lived in Simpsonville for 31 years and Greenville County for 38 years and have met some Furman grads over the years. Some were the nicest people you could ever meet, while others were arrogant and annoying. We can't kid ourselves, Clemson is the same way.

I once worked with a guy that said he had worked at an ABC store on Poinsett Hwy and that some Furman students and faculty were weekly regulars. I asked him how he knew they were from Furman. He said they would be in there talking about school stuff. He said some were very nice and some were jerks.

Yeah, those Furman folks are really horrible human beings

Seriously?

I don’t know, but my guess is you have a bit too much time on your hands, maybe find a hobby.

Their fans? All 75 of them? High school football games draw bigger crowds.***

are FU grads. (FU buddy, best cheer ever). 1960s & 70s, football games at Sirrine, basketball at Memorial Auditorium. Pretty laid back in general, not obnoxious about sports.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

I grew up across the street from the back gate of Furman. My grandparents taught there, my dad and uncle graduated from there. I fished the lake there as a kid and wrecked my BMX bike hard flying down the hill on the backside of the lake trying to Evel Knievel the stone bridge and probably got a concussion from it.

I earned my Eagle in the Boy Scout Troop that met in the old Southern Railroad car on Furman property. Our troop was sponsored by Furman and we ushered their football games.

All the memories, and family ties to Furman yet I could not stand the students or faculty because they were all stuck up. I went to Clemson instead.

Years later, after I went into the Army and moved off, I learned that Furman decided to no longer sponsor my old troop and the troop was forced to move elsewhere and eventually disbanded. Troop had 60+ Eagle Scouts over the years. My kids growing up knew that I would not pay for their college if they chose Furman.

Go Tigers - Beat Furman!
