How they can call him a "pocket passer" is beyond me

Oct 17, 2016, 3:04 PM

The guy can throw from the pocket, sure. He can also run like, well, a track guy. The read-option and the scramble are very much a part of his game.

That is the very definition of "dual threat". He also very much looks like the 5-star he is rated as.

Clemson got a huge one with this guy. Honestly he does remind me more than a little of Deshaun...their games are similar, they have similar size and build, and exactly like Deshaun, I wonder if the big hurdle to HJ getting on the field early is going to be that he's just a little too light in the butt initially.

Hey quozzel, what are your thoughts on his interception numbers? Sorry to nitpick, but that seems little high to me.

What say you?

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.

I wouldn't sweat it. Two things you can clearly see on his film....
#1 - His O-line is, uhm, not good and can't protect him and he's having to stand and deliver in the face of an intense rush, always, and...
#2 - His wide receivers have next to no speed or explosion and he's having to "throw" them open by delivering to a time and place and hoping they get there. Sometimes - clearly a lot of times - it works; when you can drop the ball on a dime it happens more often than not. But he does not exactly have a crew of frisbee-catching dogs out there either. I suspect his numbers will look a bit better when it's guys like Cornell Powell and Diondre Overton and Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers at the other end of all those beautiful passes he throws.
