Agreed the family atmosphere and stuff will only go so far In today’s age of big money recruiting. We will need to start offering the money that’s atleast competive and then the facilities and atmosphere will be what puts us over the top if we offering decent amounts. Need out of ACC and get into a more profitable conference or we will be left behind! But I love the Tigers no matter conference so Go Tigers!!!

If we were to join either sec or big 10, that does nothing for nil. The university, itself, cannot fund nil. It has to be through donors and outside business. We face a lack of money from donors and business entities.

If you are not going to work with a NIL fund to facilitate a NIL payment to a HS recruit , it doesn't matter how much the funds have or don't have. The schools can be the athlete's agent to get the athlete the money.

So, what are you suggesting that Dabo do? Quit and tell the admin that it would better to close down the FB program. Or should with all those really smart people at Clemson to figure out, look for a loop hole around the NIL that will help to bring Clemson up level ground with the schools that have more NIL donations that they know what to do with, it is those folks that are driving up the price to retain some of the best players in the country.
IMO, the athletic department should find and retain some of the best legal minds in the country, and bring a suit against the NCAA and force them to get a hold on the NIL in a way that will make all D1 schools to be on the very same level where it concerns NIL money. There is a way for it to be done, but somebody has to take that step to force them to do whatever it takes to make the NIL for every D1 school before they allow it to completely destroy college sports bc that is exactly where it's heading at this very minute. That is where it was heading the moment the NIL was made legal for college athletes to ask for...

ahhh..if there is a loophole that the "legal minds" find in the NIL, wouldn't it apply for everyone to use and any advantages gained equal to a net zero gain for Clemson? Just asking.

Dabo Swinney has ensured financial security for his family for generations, yet he expects recruits, many of whom come from less privileged backgrounds, to disregard financial considerations in their decisions.
It’s hypocritical to demand these young athletes ignore NIL deals when we all know we'd make the same choice in their position.
David dropping us over this makes perfect sense, and it's frustrating to see people criticize him for it.

But expecting Clemson to compete in this way? I say pay the coach on a per-win or a combination of per-win and per-graduation rate. You know, capitalism.

If you really value capitalism then pay him a percentage of every dollar he has contributed to our bottom line. Compared to that, we are getting a bargain.

Now if you can get the NIL money to based upon the athlete's winning for the school (they were recruited by)...that's a whole different story.

You are correct in what you say but given Dabos background coming out of high school...he was poor...family not good...he loved Bama, was a fan all of his life...
Given all of that ... i can almost guarantee you that if at that time in his life, Bama said walk on and we will see what happens ..: and then Auburn said we will give you a full ride and give your mom an apartment if you come play for us...well ... he would have went to Auburn!!!
This isnt easy to figure out in all honesty!!! Right or wrong is irrelevant at this point...everyone needs to look out for themselves because nobody else it going to!!! Dabo would have made the same choice as an 18 year old in his situation at the time!!!

You're going to compare Dabo to someone just out of h.s.???? You're saying that someone with minimal experience, basically a few years playing football, compares to the experience and knowledge of someone who has been involved for decades, playing and coaching????? You, sir, are distinctly lacking in mental acuity. You would pay a trainee the same as the CEO of a company. LMFAO. Paying these kids this way, is part of the delusion that is destroying these kids integrity. They start believing the hype before they actually put in any work and then get agitated when they cannot fulfill the promise.
But, I'm sure you also believe that someone flipping burgers should be paid $20/hr....same as a police officer or teacher

I think Dabo came from poverty or near poverty and he earned what he's making based on performance. That's his stance with paying recruits up front- earn it and you'll get it.

Absolutely no one is telling our recruits to ignore NIL deals. We are just not assuring them of deals before they plays. If someone wants to offer big money on behalf of Clemson, I don’t think we are telling them not to.

Every time a recruit doesn't choose Clemson, 90% of the posts are about how he's only interested in the money.
We lost plenty of recruits before NIL - it's certainly not the only reason every one of these guy aren't coming to Clemson. Even if it were, I could do without a lot of the criticism being directed towards them.

In this case, why would Nebraska be under consideration based on their performance the past few years for a young man from Charlotte if it wasn't about money? The other 3 schools have been winning and/or have plenty of NIL money.

We use nil to keep players but not to buy them. This gives those willing to pay them before they play a down for you a big advantage. Another reason we are falling behind a bit in recruiting.

DavidHood® Do you have any inside rumors on this?
I think that it's odd (well that Nebraska is in the mix, that's a lot of corn) but that the date for commitment is set so far out. I was trying to see if that might be a significant date (like his birthday), but the other part of me is wondering if he's not putting it 6 weeks out to see if any offer$ amend.
