How to get to Louisville Stadium?
Sep 12, 2017, 8:12 PM

Originally planning to go to Churchill Downs and park there but the last race is at 5:50 pm and their site is unclear on when they stop serving food.
Now thinking Uber. I'll have a rental car but heard their stadium is not in the best area and not sure we want to walk through the hood close to midnight after we take care of business.
What are others planning?

I'm watching it in my command chair, we are cooking out, serving homemade ice cream at halftime an I may get up to go to bed after we win or maybe not. Just don't want to chance the bad neighborhoods by the Papa Johns stadium.

The best Mexican restaurant in town is in your version of a scary neighborhood, lol. Another is across the street from the baseball stadium which you will walk by one your amble to Papa John's.

DIdn't mean to turn it into a joke but I deserve that - I'm the one that bought plane tickets months ago
Hope someone who has been or has the displeasure of living there can help a fellow Tiger out!

The not so good area you speak of looks bad but isn't really that bad. I park my car there and walk to the stadium and have no issues going back to my car at night. Thousands of other UofL fans also park there (free street parking). That being said, you do not want to Uber from Churchill Downs to the stadium. I'm attaching a pic to show you how close the stadium is. You will also see the overpass that you will cross. Some call it the Central Ave overpass but it's known and named the Denny Crum overpass. As you're leaving Churchill Downs, exit onto Central Ave and go right. It takes you right to the stadium and large crowds to mingle the way with plenty of traffic cops at each intersection.
Senore mentioned the Mexican restaurant. It's at 3rd and Central right across from the baseball stadium. I've never eaten in there but want to one day.
Also, there is a Haunted House that is already open if your in the mood for being spooked at 4th and Central. They should be in full force after the game but then you should already be spooked at the large defeat your Tigers will have faced by then.

If you wamt to picture PPJ Stadium ...picture Willy B without the Palmetto Trees and the overwhelming smell of rancid pizza sauce replacing soured vagrant urine.

We walked to stadium from Churchill Downs 2 years ago and took uber to hotel after. Took forever to get uber and surge was ridiculous. The 'neighborhood" we went through was definitely not equivalent to downtown Clemson but we had no problems.
