And probably doesn't even know it!!
How do I know it?
Well, have been a customer acquaintance of Leonard Keller for over 60 years when we were Clemson students and he worked at his father's uptown Clemson store.
During the Saturday of the Nov 2023 Notre Dame game weekend I popped into store with Son to check out the Orange..And quickly spotted Leonard at his old wooden desk in back so went back to say hello.
We greeted, discussed a bulb problem he was having and then I mentioned TigerNet for some reason and he shared this subject with me.
He had heard about a poster on TN who used the mercantile store's family name as a handle which seemed to be an infringement and it bothered him enough to contact the owners of TN..
And apparently they soothed his concerns by basically saying our Judge Keller was actually doing no harm and every time he posted with the famous & renowned Judge Keller brand name, it kept the name & store in front of thousands of potential customers.
Thus, our Judge Keller got to keep his TN handle and probably doesn't know he dodged a bullet!
Ha..Go TiGERS, Go TN Owners, Go JK & Go Leonard!

Would you ever steal a famous Clemson brand name and claim it as yours? Why would anyone do that. I maintain that the use of that name on Tnet, is NOT helping the brand since that user is not well respected or liked by many on Tnet.

It’s absolutely not and the fact that TNET thwarted having (what should be) some rando switch his handle suggests that he is a favored account meant to drive engagement.

Without using the actual name risk being sued, just say MrKnickerblockers, and you'll be as safe as a church mouse. Just adding that one letter protects you from infringement

There are a lot of posters on this board with clemson in their handle that give our program a bad look. Maybe clemson should send out some cease and desists.
It is embarrassing how much a rando on a message board triggers so much of you.

Judge Keller, ran the store during my years at CU...1965-1969.
Very cordial and generous man, who let me switch out an oscillating fan for my tin cans' room for a breezebox fan and pay him the balance over a couple of months. Funny to think about now, but money was hard to scrape up in those early days, and the $15 balance due on that box fan might well have been $1500, which neither I nor my roommate had. But I promised to pay it over a couple of months, which I did, and that bigger fan made a difference. Never have forgotten his Dad's kindness, which is why I always shopped his store my entire time there.
As for our own JK, no doubt he's had a big laugh over this post, as I did. Our powers-that-be were correct: every time JK posts, I'm reminded of the store...a surefire free advertising spot.

And yes you are right, Leonard's Granddad was The Judge and not his Dad who was a petite, kind-looking man with a smile under his spectacles.
Your loan story reminded me of what Dan of the sandwich shop fame did for the cadets back in the 50's & 60's. He would have you sign an IOU if short of funds with balance paid when possible.
What a time to be a Clemson student what with such non-greedy but helpful merchants who were true Clemson men to the core.
Go TiGERS..continue the ole Clemson spirit!

I was a student in the 70s and then and now Judge Keller's is one of my favorite places of business. Whenever we visit the area (from Texas) and are downtown on a non-game day, I go and hang out with Leonard while my wife store surfs. You can learn a lot from conversations with Leonard, past and present. One such visit, he gave us his tickets for that day's baseball game.
I will never forget his dad's words Whenever I would check out: "Appreciate your trade". Love that place!

B/c it is historic, the family is all-in Clemson (grads), the decor & interior is authentic & honest to its core of serving without busting your wallet..and it's fun to see what a real mercantile looked like in the pre-1940's.
Check out the old display counters, the Edison era ceiling fixtures, the old cash register and enjoy the friendliness of the staff and of course there's the 70'ish Leonard at his desk or at the checkout with a smile and a word or two about Clemson.
Oh, use to get my Duck brand slacks there.
