To put it together with the players they have. They aren’t out recruiting top 25 classes that I’m aware of. I read they have 20 transfers including the qb I believe. Maybe they will go back to the basement next year but they don’t seem to have a coaching problem at the moment. So what is Coemson problem. They should be head and shoulders above Vandy and I’m not sure Clemson would beat them currently..

Everyone knows Vandy’s success can be mostly attributed to the portal.
The sad part is, we don’t even need to use it like they do. They signed 22 from the portal. That’s a lot. We don’t need that many. But look at what the elites are doing.
Oregon signed 14
Texas signed 12
Georgia signed 11
Ohio State signed 7
That’s an average of 11 players for all 4 teams. I’d say we should sign at least half of that from the portal every year. At least 5-6.

There should be a small team of coaches who evaluate, on a continuing basis, where the 3 weakest spots on our team are and who in the portal might be able to help us shore them up. With weekly feedback to & from the entire coaching staff.

Cause I can link you several posts over the off season where many of us on here knew DL and LB was going to be a problem with talent and/or depth. Dabo asked the coaches if they wanted to go into the portal and they said they liked who they had. But yet it’s still a weakness.

Vandy, Army, Navy, etc. all play like their hair is on fire and they love every minute of the experience and are grateful for the chance to play. Some of our highly paid players and staff act like they are bored with the whole thing.

They have a bunch of other new transfers.
Their coach is a Vandy football alum.
He's a good coach, he has passion, and he's realistic.
They beat Bama and they took Texas to the wire.
Embarrassingly, they have nearby the same record we do (6-3 vs 6-2);but they have a signature win over a Top 5 team and we don't.
Apparently the portal is great if you have the right other ingredients.

Half of Tigernet agree with not using the portal, think college football is being gutted with NIL and transfers…the other half of Tigernet say let’s get with the times and learn how to MANAGE through the new college football landscape.
