How did a 9-3 Alabama team jump above a 10-2 Miami team in the latest CFP

rankings. Miami's 2nd loss last week was a close one on the road against a good (not great) Syracuse team. But the bottom line is Miami is 10-2 and Bama (who got clobbered by Oklahoma and lost to Vandy) is 9-3.

Beats me. They see something we don’t see or are paying the committee. My money is on the latter.

Quality wins apparently trump bad losses. Bama has 3 top 25 wins. Miami has zero. If SMU loses they will have zero.

If TX beats UGA then Bamas best win would be over a 3 loss team

and to top it off … the chair said they were done evaluating and Miami was locked in there. So even if TX beats UGA by 30, which devalues Bama’s signature win… Miami has no path.
The chair also said it was possible for SMU to drop below Bama

I hate Bama as much as the next guy, but they didn’t get credit for a win in Blacksburg and lose twice in the last month to some bad teams. Just once.
I think the SEC lobbied real hard to get them in and traded an Ohio State home game for it. Which, as a Tenn fan, really pisses me off.
I soooooo want to see them get booted out in favor of two ACC teams.
Just sayin’

ACC will get 2... Clemson, and SMU at 10-2 with a loss in a championship game...when Alabama sat at home
Clemson beats SMU 26-24 on Saturday cleaning up the way for 2 teams from ACC to get in

Playoff never should have exceeded 8. 5 conference champs plus 3 at large.

Conference seasons and championship games determine 5 without debate.
12 is stupid. If not 8, go to 16 guaranteeing no byes

It's quite simple. Miami lost two of their last three games, have not beaten a ranked team and had two games where the refs bailed them out. Not to mention their D is suspect at best. Bama had several good wins over ranked teams plus only one bad loss.
If we want a fair system, teams need to be divided into 10 team groups which are balanced based on traditional power and also geography. All P4 and G5 teams would be in a group. Each group champ would get a spot in the playoffs based on the best W/L percentage within the group. NFL has been doing this for years with great results. There would no longer need to be a committee as teams win their spot based on actual results.

Man you make way to much sense. I’m saying since I believe that it makes great sense they will probably never do it.
Does the FCS have a lot of issues with their playoff format? Seems to work like clockwork from what I have observed over the years. I pull for Furman on that side and they had a horrible year, but I will still make it a point to watch some of those playoff games.

goes without saying : SEC conference
Miami was undefeated, lost late, and had several large come from behind deficits to win, against bad teams such as California....and honestly they should have lost that game had refs made the call and stood by the right call instead of taking the cowardly way out.
Alabama is better than Miami without any question in my mind, and I do not like saying that but it is objectively true to me.

They focus on Bama's wins versus ranked teams and they have a point. They totally ignore the losses to Vandy and Okie...

championship anyways. Any team that is crying that they should be 12 instead of 13 can kick rocks, they’re not good enough to matter at the end of the day and have no one to blame but themselves.

Miami doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs. They should have 4 loses and didn't beat anyone. Plus they call themselves the U which is STUPID.
