Sad deal for sure but put that dog down. Can’t walk and hasn’t eaten in 3 days? Come on.

Let’s get behind Ben and pray for his life…we all have a day to depart but let’s ask for a few more. If you have lost your buddy I know you are all in on this,

Not true, mine has been in doggy wheelchair for over a year and she is still happy and active. She swims, retrieves balls and is fully engaged. Her days of being a frisbee dog killed her hips and I wont do that to a dog again but at about 18-20" tall, she could jump up almost 7' and take treat out of your hand as high as you could hold it.
While its more work to care for, her hind legs are shot but she is happy, goes to work with me almost everyday and follows me around the jobsite. Her mind and body were great minus the lower back nerve/joint damage basically because I asked her to do too much as a young pup. But she isnt unhealthy well wasnt until last week but she is recovering from a random illness.

In 2010 I was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma and my dog had just passed away. After major surgeries the docs thought I was gonna be ok but 2012 my cancer metastasized into my lungs and I was given 6-9mos. I made up my mind that I was gonna get a dog (Boykin Spaniel) and hopefully have some great interactions, entertainment and a reason to keep going. But I also wanted a dog that parents or bedt friends would adopt.
Anyway, I spent hours with my little girl. She became a best friend, a frisbee dog, and a great fishing dog that has more hrs on boat than most people plus add in her hunting skills.
That said, she helped me come through tough times. Last month she was on her last leg at almost 13yrs old and vet told me it was time. She got sick and went downhill fast but she kept looking at me like she wasnt ready. I took her to vet few times and she has slowly recovered. They are not sure why she got sick but I couldn't give up on her and while she is still weak, she is alive and happy, ready to go for a ride at anytime. Almost 13yrs old, I wasn't supposed to outlive her but she gave me hope and I couldn't give up on her when she gave me certain looks. She was 16hrs away from going to vet which is probably close to my 6-9mos in human yrs.
Love my pup, she is great and it was one of my best decisions ever! Although the Vet bills are not what they used to be!

that is indeed heartbreaking, but I have to say when I read the headline I thought it was talking about Corso.
Sad, indeed, though.

Tumor on her spine caused her to lose control of her back legs. She went from a mild limp in November to complete loss of her back legs and being put down in early February.
Losing pets sucks.

We lost our beloved Westie a couple of years ago when she was 17. Before that we had our Chocolate Lab for 13 years ..... always traumatic losing your great friend and companion. A vet once said that it is better to put them down a week too early than a week too late. I agree.
