Clemson has only offered 2 SC players in 2025 ?

Dabo has offered more players from CA than SC.

Ouch.

To be fair, there is no comparison between CA and SC HS FB. Night and day in terms of quantity and quality of talent.

After several recent duds from CA, not exactly big news

the WR's and that QB at FSU now simply failed to live up to any hype at all... has any California player ever come to Clemson with high expectations and performed decent ?? Maybe they did but just so much distance it just makes little sense at all

I would be totally fine if we never got another kid from CA again.

California has always had great FB talent and still does. Clemson was unlucky in drawing DJU and Beaux Collins. These two "duds" hurt Cal's reputation in recruiting. Keep trying to recruit them, especially with Stanford and Cal Berkeley joining the ACC.

My comment was based on the totality of talent in both states, not on how a couple of our CA recruits under-performed for us. We can certainly point to some of our own duds that came out of SC recruiting if we really want to go there.

Probably our most consistent success has come from our GA recruits over the years. DW and TL say hello...

He’s going to offer Kevin Peay from Lancaster soon. And potentially a few more depending on who we land in the coming weeks

SC is not noted for the its quantity of really good football players. GA always has a lot of good football players. Don't know why we have so few.

Not sure if this is still the case but in years past some of the best players from SC were not able to gain entrance to a university. Hopefully folks have learned from the previous missed opportunities.

AMEN about Georgia's rich FB talent. A lot of small towns there, but they obvious have superior HS coaches.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Most of the top recruits from Georgia come from metro Atlanta.

So not really small towns.

But yes, some very good coaches and good resources too.

According to this site: https://worldpopulationreview.com/states , there are 22 states with a larger population (CA and TX essentially ‘dwarf’ us). Note the SC population is only 1.5% of the entire national population.

There is alot of raw talent that comes from south carolina. Unfortunately south carolina schools are smaller which results in less money available for elite coaching. Bigger schools normally have more money available for sports meaning better position coaching and strength and conditioning.

It is a testimony of "bad coaching" in the state of South Carolina. There is a dire NEED of Great FB coaches in the state. Whether it's Hoops, Baseball or Football, SC simply doesn't have the stellar Head Coaches compared to the rest of the Country. I went to High School in Greenville SC many years ago, and it was quite obvious to me back then as a teenager that the whole state had average coaches. I no longer live in the Palmetto state, but I am a Clemson fan, and even today I can see why NO great athletes come out of there because of the low level of head coaching talent.

It's tough out there considering annually there are only about 32 rated 5 star and about 300 rated 4 star from every high school, across every state, making the odds are slim.

GA, FL, TX, CA and a few other states provide the majority of top recruits. In 2023, the top Blue Chip (combined 4 and 5 star) recruits:

#1 FL - 67
#2 TX - 52
#3 GA - 32
#4 CA - 24

After that, the rest of the top 10 had 7 Blue Chip players except PA which had 9 and they were all 4 star recruits with no 5 star recruits.

You make a good point. XT comes to mind as being from SC but went to IMG. But how much of the rating is related to competition? I don't know if there is enough parity in SC. Pretty much the same schools every year in the SC playoffs.

GA has a large contingent of County High Schools while SC is pretty much a town system. Some of the other states like FL, TX and CA just have large population areas and thus, large high schools. You don't get many 4 and 5 star recruits from schools with 1200 or less students.

What you state is what is so impressive about what dabo has accomplished. What Kirby has done is impressive but has has hundreds of d1 recruits that grew up playing peewee football with a G on the side of their helmets.

especially during the Spurrier years. Yes I know Clemson gets its fair share from the state. Maybe my recollection of 5 * SC recruits is poor.
