Didn't realize that. Crazy how much the portal and NIL have changed the landscape. Shows that any team that's willing to spend money can step right in and compete the next season. And these kids aren't from small schools. Alabama, Texas, 5 from Miami, Oklahoma, Auburn, Texas A&M....

No they are not, just partake in class curriculum. They have a minimum of 6 credit hrs that players must take during the season. Those classes can be online, electives or whatever. These players graduate on time because they have class for 2 semesters and 2 summer sessions. Stetson Bennett went to college for 6yrs and never got a degree because he took the minimum every session.
These NIL chasers will have 4-6yrs of college without degrees because they are jumping colleges and not all courses will transfer. The term Student Athlete is diminishing quickly.

And 95% of them will end up broke if they don’t get a degree. A small percentage of players get drafted to the NFL, an even smaller percentage make rosters, and a minuscule percentage make it more than 3 years.

Most college graduates are broke anyway because employers don't want to pay a living wage......that's if they can even find a job.

IF college graduates are broke, it is not BECAUSE employers don't want to pay a living wage, it is because they did not learn marketable skills while in college. My kids did fine right out of college, but they actually learned something useful.

They set the academic standards so low it is a joke. NCAA has a goal of keeping anyone who is good enough to play college football eligible to play. Academics are as important to the NCAA as shoe shines are to the military. (Shien if you want to, or just wear corfams, we don't care.)

I mean that's all fine and dandy, but let's see how everyone feels if Dabo doesn't adapt and we're back to 7-5 or so every season. He can graduate every player on the team, but at this level the only things that matter are W's and L's on the schedule.

Clemson is doing the same thing in baseball and basketball with the portal. It's not in most cases what is best for the player long term. So many of them will not get a degree and have the relationships and connections that 4 years at the same college would of offered. I think going back to sitting out a year is the answer to the problem.

I can remember so many fans just bashing FSU every time they lost. “See portal isn’t the answer” “Portal team sucks again” etc etc…
Well for every team that failed with the portal I can find teams that have succeeded with it. There are players out there. You don’t have to pay Cam Ward money for them all.
You do however need to use NIL to a certain extent and do your homework to find these players.
I said it at the beginning of the season and it came true. We needed another DE and LB for depth. Heck could even have landed one that is good enough to start or at least increases the competition which makes everyone better.
