Not really. State by state statistics aren’t the best to show the real picture. Break it down city by city. I posted a reply to this further down in the thread. Go check it out. The top 7 cities with the most violent crime are all democrat ran cities with democrat mayors.

OK, so if we have a dem city in a dem state with really high gun deaths, then that means the rest of that dem state has an extremely low rate of gun deaths, especially compared with the Republican states.

Who is killing who in these Republican states with really high gun death rates?

Hmmm... Let's look at some numbers shall we...

The following numbers are for 2022 in the USA and come from the CDC:

Death from Heart Disease: 702,880
Death from Diabetes: 101,209
Cigarette related deaths: 480,000
Excessive alcohol use deaths: 178,000
Fentanyl Deaths: 76,226
Firearms death: 48,204

Furthermore, there is some 400 million firearms in the USA. That gives us a death rate per firearm of roughly .012% per firearm. That's so low that it doesn't even really register a 10th of one percent and means that 99.98% of firearms in the USA have never caused a death. Yet another way of looking at the issue is that out of 330 million people in the USA, .014% die from firearms. Once again that doesn't even reach the 10th of one percent mark.

So when you really look at death in America (if that is really your concern) - it really looks like the American diet, sedentary lifestyle, the use of cigarettes, alcohol, and drug use kill WAY more people in the USA every year than our 2nd Amendment right. In short - our freedom to choose what we eat and put in our bodies is responsible for way more US death than firearms.

So if the concern is really about saving lives - why isn't the Democratic Party taking major political positions to ban cigarettes and alcohol? It's a CDC fact that cigarettes and alcohol kill more Americans in a single year than 20 years of total death from firearms. So why is getting rid of firearms instead of cigarettes and alcohol a top priority for Democrats?? After all - there is no Constitutional right to cigarettes or alcohol standing in their way like there is with firearms and that pesky 2A..

Hmm... me thinks the Democratic position for wanting to dump the 2A ain't just about death from firearms and that some other motivation is behind their anti-gun agenda...I wonder what that motivation could be...

The "science" loving party is too busy telling its voters that obesity is a virtue to give a #### that its actually killing hundreds of thousands of them every year. Food, smoking, booze and drugs are responsible for millions of premature deaths every year and the left embraces the use of all of these (except smoking tobacco of course which is singled out for some odd reason) yet it's guns they want their cult members focused on as the root of all evil. Fat, stupid and drugged out of their minds is exactly how the left wants its voters. Oh and on public assistance of course.

Drug overdose deaths were 3 times higher than firearm deaths in 2023 with over 50% of them from fentynal that is coming across the border. Fix that problem and fewer will be killed fighting to control the drug business. It won't stop all but it's a start.

We (our families) have not (fortunately) had anyone killed by a senseless gun murder but have lost a family member to a fentynal OD. There there is an amendment to legally own a gun if you meet the requirements but there is no amendment to sell illegal drugs.

No go look up FBI statistics on what demographic commits the most homicides. Then go see what states have the highest concentrations of that demographic.
Next go look up cities with the most violent crime. Then look up the demographics of those cities and their mayors. I’ll give you a head start. St. Louis, Baltimore, and Detroit are the top 3. Detroit mayor, Mike Duggan, democrat. Baltimore mayor, Brandon Scott, democrat. St. Louis mayor, Tishaura Jones, democrat.

I guess when discussing firearm deaths based on numbers - you should probably take out suicides (they often would have just found another way to take their own lives).
