reports his teammates like him. But, Watson had magic, Trevor has "it" and to a lesser extent so did Tajh. DJ just doesn't have "it".
For all you who were wondering, now you know.
You're welcome.

Still regret we couldn't get together on my dime 2 yrs ago at the Fish Camp.
Yep, your post about DJ is on target (he's normally not); no charisma, just a tall imposing statue that I believe never got over the beating & sacks Dawgs put on him several years ago.
From Clemson to OregonSt to FloridaSt he's just been a mediocre QB overall but still garners starting which is amazing in itself.
Take Care over there in budding Port Royal!

Yeah, sorry about that - we need to try to work it out. Fish Camp is pretty good.

He is a drop back passer. Needs great OL and receivers. No mobility whatsoever. I would blitz every play; not quick to react to anything. The guy throws a pretty ball but he does not know where it’s going when his attempts are 10+ yards.
Wish the guy would have worked out, but the DJ in ND and the DJ of today are not the same player.

I do believe he had "it" at one time.
In HS he was a man among men and it was easy. The ND game staff eliminated all the pressure, made it simple and he went out still the HS gunslinger and it was great. Life was good he was adored by all.
But then life happened. The NIL hit and it became business instead of school boy fun. He was expected to step it up a notch to meet expectations. Ga. happened and he realized he is not a man among men. The fanbase turned on him for the fancy clothes and losing the opener. "it" just went away. A burst bubble at the realities of big time college football.
He has never been the same.

DJ is no doubt one of the most popular players we have had because you groupies write about him every day. News flash, DJ is gone.

What physical tools do you think he "seems" to have....? Be specific, I'd like to hear.

Timing isn't great. Was wondering if the coach to player helmet communication would help.

I think the young man made a mistake by not playing baseball.

He doesn't have as many tools as people seem to think. Yes he's a big guy with a big arm but those are probably the only two above average traits he possesses. He's slow, has poor pocket mobility, isn't accurate, and doesn't really seem to have any leadership abilities. DW and TL had "all the tools " DJ clearly only has a couple.

Always felt the DJ was efficient. But that's where is begins and ends. He is out there trying execute the plays given. Not the guy that can make something happen when it's not there. I believe that to be the "it" you're referring to.

DJU's problem was that he was slow.... physically AND mentally.
* He was always late recognizing when it was time to run and then too slow to get away from pressure.
* He was too late recognizing when to come off his primary receiver and look for another - he really didn't have situational awareness at all.

Here's the "IT"....
Aug 27, 2024, 12:29 PM

My primary care physician was one of the Clemson staff doctors. One day in his office we were discussing Clemson's offensive issues and he asked me what I thought was causing DJ's lack of success. I said that I didn't think he had the intelligence required to make rapid decisions and play the game at a high level. My physician said "I think you're right."
The "IT" is intelligence.... primarily.
