Ms. Nickles, thank you for your note, and I do appreciate you taking
the time to share your concerns on a serious topic.
Coach Doeren's comments during his weekly television program were in
the context of the overall physical play of the defense, as he also
referenced having four takeaways, a pair of goal line stands and
giving up just two plays of more than twenty yards. Coach has great
respect for Wayne and publicly praised him leading into the game two
weeks ago.
We are glad Wayne is well and wish him and Clemson success the rest of
the season.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...he is a classless piece of trash and won't change because he is perfect for NC State. They're both cellar dwellers in every sense of the word.

If Doeren said "we wanted to slow their running game down by focusing on Gallman and containing him," that would have been acceptable.
But saying "we wanted to take him out" knowing that Gallman had to be removed from the game after a HELMET TO HELMET hit your NCST goon administered to him is not and should not be tolerated.
If Doeren keeps this attitude up, expect the same for y'all's players. Just warning ya.

What bothers me as much as DOEREN's comments were the no call on the targeting and then the ACC's saying it was a clean hit!

We are beginning to sound like the girls at Louisville. The same thing happened to TA&M in their game, A Bama player targeted one of A&M's but not called(did not injure player) Later an A&M player was tossed----they just miss them. Play on.

I don't think anyone who saw the hit doubted that "taking out" "was within the context" of physical play. It was lauding it that causes me problems. He could have pointed out that (they) played a strong physical game st cetera. But no, "we took (Gallman) out was the first good point that came to his mind.
I judge the AD's response as a D.
We all know that many calls are missed in every game. Replay seems to be useless. Over and over in the games I watched this weekend the ruling on the field was upheld. The need for absolute and irrefutable proof suggests that trend will continue. So the calls aren't greatly improved and the game has longer and longer commercial times. Yet they talk of speeding the game up. Sigh.
