SEC/B1G, which schools would rise to the perennial top of the CFP rankings??? If I had to guess,

Clemson
Miami
FSU
SMU

would be in the top tier (elite).

Nancy Tate
VT
Pitt
GT (jury still out....)
Looserville
UVA

would be in the "second" tier (competitive also-rans but not elite).

UNCheat
Standford
Cal
Dook
Cuse
BC
Wake

would continue to be bottom-feeders.

Thoughts??

The majority of ACC teams do not care about football and never will with any amount of resources.

I don't think so. I think SMU has big aspirations with almost unlimited resources; Miami, Clemson and FSU are what I would call "committed" football schools. Just my $0.02 worth.

Ultimately, I'd like to see us leave the ACC for the B1G or SEC. But that's just me.

Look no farther than bottom feeders' stadium capacities

SEC has 1 school under 60,000. ACC has 9. SMU is the 1 anomaly. I think they sort of care.

ACC
Wake Forest - 31,500
SMU - 32,000
Duke - 40,000
BC- 44,500
Syracuse - 50,000
Stanford - 50,000
UNC - 50,500
Georgia Tech - 52,000
NC State - 57,000

SEC
Vanderbilt - 40,350
Kentucky - 61,000
Miss State - 61,300
Missouri - 62,000
Ole Miss - 64,000
Arkansas - 76,000
Chickens - 77,500

With their resources, SMU could build a Big House with a Neyland on top in Dallas

I live in DFW area they got Cotton Bowl. ACC could use Cotton Bowl to save ACC from itself.

FYI SMU has two stadiums. When Clemson plays at SMU hopefully soon Cotton Bowl 90,000. Clemson and SMU can fill Cotton Bowl 88% Clemson 12% SMU

Clemson, fsu, Miami, and VT have enough resources now that they always be top 20 year in, year out.

We don't have those overall resources for a variety of reasons.

The stupid ACC GOR.

Several of the traditional ACC schools are smaller. Smaller fan bases, smaller alumni bases, less ability to compete consistently in the big money sport - football.

More successful schools are cherry picking the best ADs and coaches.

It's rarely just one thing.

The one bottom feeder that is trying is Duke. A basketball school that once was a football powerhouse before becoming the laughing stock of the whole country has been trying for the last decade with some success. It's hard to overcome years of being horrible. when they get a good coach it's hard to keep them long enough to make a difference. Cutcliff worked wonders, and Elko did for 2 years, and I'm impressed with Manny, hope they can keep him. They have invested more in football than ever before.

Having grown up in NC with a deep dislike for cheater hill, I hope Duke will get it and keep it turned around. I get great pleasure seeing the cheaters lose, even more so when Duke beats them. it may be sacrilege here but I'd even pull for the coots when they play ewe-n-sea.

Don't believe it's entirely a resource thing when it comes to "rankings". The "top-tier" is by reservation only from the SEC/B1G and Notre Dame.

At least Clemson, Miami and FSU have been in the rankings.....perennially.

The AP ranking system is all we got. But it's still a farce and self-fulfilling prophecy when it comes to the SEC/B1G. It is decided buy who the Associated Press THINKS should be a top-tier or even bottom tier. And if you do not begin the season in a high enough spot (or even ranked at all) a program doesn't stand much of a chance if they don't THINK you're worthy or your opponents are worthy.

Wrong...most of the ACC teams can't put 50k butts in the stadium, much less 100k! You cannot suppose that things that are basically unequal can be made equal overnight!

SEC and Big10 resources have done nothing for SC, Miss State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Vandy, Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota and so forth for decades.
Texas and TAMU have unlimited resources and have been significantly less successful as have been most teams in the BIG10 and SEC than Clemson and Florida State for 50 years. Money is never the problem
nor the solution.

BTW, where is Auburn these days? Clemson has a 4 game win streak over Auburn. Clemson is 4-1 over Ohio State. Clemson leads ND in head to head match ups and in National Titles over the past 50 years.
Clemson leads Oklahoma in head to head match ups for a long time.

Be glad and happy to be a Clemson fan. Most sensible fans would rather be us than vice versa.

Go Tigers!!

Tons of talent in GA. Just need a bigger stadium. Have won championships in the past.

And Clemson/FSU of course.
