Saw an interview with Herbie Hancock who is still touring, so on the porch with Miles Davis Quintet. Hancock is too far above most others on the key boards to compare. Miles is -- "Miles".

As a kid in the 1980s, this was my first exposure to Herbie Hancock. It wasn’t until my thirties that I discovered just how accomplished he was in his career

That was my first thought. I still say Herbie Hancock when I sign something because of this scene. All time favorite.

Art Tatum and Thelonius Monk would have given him a run for the money.

When Peterson was intimidated by Tatum that tells you how great Tatum was***

And of course Art Tatum all great old timers… Herbie to me is like Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett. A great bridge between swing, bop and hard bop of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s

Oscar Peterson is the best pure jazz piano player I’ve ever heard. Look up some of his videos with his trio
