but we have better talent than the results so far this season would indicate.
When I was in school at Clemson, the thought of Duke coming into Death Valley and trouncing us was unthinkable. We did lose to them in Durham on a rainy miserable Saturday; but that would not have been imaginable in Death Valley back then.
Considering the incredible ascent to national dominance, playing in national championships as recently as six years ago, to be facing a bully beatdown in Death Valley at the hands of Duke is embarrassing. It's a disgrace, really.
In my eyes Dabo is undoing his legacy in a big hurry with recent years of horrible mismanagement that have culminated in the collapse we are seeing now. Burning up that cred fast.

Football is a tough game. Maybe the toughest. To stay relevant is a monumental task, and to stay on top after you've gotten there is harder still. Dabo Swinney did something at Clemson University once reserved for the Alabamas and the Ohio States. He took a middling football program and pushed it up that hill until they beat everyone that mattered. He did that twice. He was close enough to doing it 4 times in 6 years. That cred , in my opinion (as an aging and as yet coherent Clemson follower)...is for life. I pray we don't lose to Duke , but I am completely ok with some bad years in the legacy of the guy who gave us those trophies. Failure is a fact of life...and football.

A bad year for us in the acc should be 8 wins. We returned our most experienced/developed team in a long time this year and laid a giant egg.
I'm not sure Dabs has it in him to make the overhaul.

It's becoming clearer and clearer that the incredible success of that period of time between 2014 and 2020 was due as much to the stellar group of coordinators and assistant coaches that Dabo assembled as it was to Dabo himself. Using that success as a springboard, all of those coordinators and assistants went on to parlay that success into bigger personal fortunes elsewhere. Unfortunately, unlike Nick Saban, Kirby Smart and Ryan Day, Dabo utterly failed to replace those coaches with guys who could maintain that success.
Give Dabo the credit he deserves for building it; but as the HC, he deserves the blame for letting it all crumble. He's put himself in a near untenable position.

Well if the head coach is under fire for the failures at hand , then wouldn't he just as well be the first one given credit for the success that now seems to be his undoing in a lot of people's minds ? He's hired everyone , since his hire. Nobody claimed he did it alone ...but his orchestrations were the reason for the success that I spoke of. That cred , remains. I don't know what the answer is you are looking for , but replacing Dabo Swinney at Clemson because of a downturn ? I do not currently agree or support this notion. Clemson isn't finished. Definitely in a lull...but give it a rest on the "Fire Dabo" front.

The 2021 and 2023 teams were bad. This year‘s team is a disgrace. I understand what you’re saying. Dani’s earned a few bad years, but he’s already had three if we count this year. At what point do you tell a guy who’s being paid $12 million a year, “win or resign”? Do we give him five bad seasons? I’m not sure what the answer is here.

Your expectations are not realistic and your assessment of the team 2021 through 2024 are misguided or just plain dishonest ! 2021 10-3 2022 11-3 2023 9-4. 292410-4
You say they were just plain bad He has had 2 or 3 years bad already.
Why don’t you tell us the real reason you don’t like Dabo? Because that record when compared to anybody is probably still top 5 and at least top 10.

Bear in mind the quality of our opponents during the past 5 years. Losing 3 or 4 games those years playing an ACC schedule was not successful, and certainly not elite.

In recent years I've gotten tired of how Tigernet changed from a substantive discussion of Clemson Tiger sports into a into a boring circlejerk where people post 30-40 times a day and add nothing of note. That, and the people who think they are hilariously funny and go on and on with their self-fellating tripe.
I don't care who TD'd me. My opinions aren't shaped by how popular they are on Tigernet. And I have no interest in virtue-signaling how great a fan I am by pledging sycophantic loyalty to any coach who ain't doing his job. Everyone who knows me knows I've bled orange since I was a one year-old living in the married student housing with my mom and dad. I have the gold ring with C encased in onyx on my right ring finger. That says it all.

With all your experience & earned expertise, it seems you'd know how it works, instead of lashing out over a TD as you did?
If you didn't care, then you wouldn't have done so, which brings your integrity into question.
That's a shame.
The rest of what you spewed, seems circle-jerk worthy, as it has nothing to do with my help intended reply.
Grats on that; maybe you're hoping to fit in...

I call out people who constantly post silly ad hominem nonsense while offering nothing of substance to refute the points made. I don't mind it at all if someone disagrees with me. A discussion is interesting; childing insults are BORING.
In this case you've offered nothing to support or refute my points; all of your lame attempts at condescension are no more substantive than 1965 Tiger, Sam Tate, or any of the other senile old gits here. You are BORING. If you have no response to my original post, why don't you log off and finish whacking it somewhere else.

You know what you can do with your TD, you senile old git.
...childing insults are BORING and that's all you.
Instead of just thanking me for taking the time to help you out, you go to guns and get defensive? If I wasn't trying to help, I would not have tagged you, and instead just gone in deep. You and that anger of yours make that easy as you do all the work; you're welcome for me recognizing your contribution.
If your OG had offered something I hadn't seen many times before, it might have intrigued me into a reply, but it was redundant at best and set aside accordingly.

That's a football post, instead of another feel good/feel bad, pile on circle-jerk.
I'd ask you to do better, but at this point you don't seem remotely capable to meet those lofty expectations.

I don't read your post as an unholy criticism of Coach Dabo Swinney
1

I read it as a summation of where Clemson Football and Coach Swinney are at present. Like you and many, I am grateful to Coach for his success and championships that would not have been achieved without his fire, recruiting and leadership. Still, my allegiance will always be to Clemson University, and not the head coach who stated "Hey, listen, if Clemson's tired of winning, they can send me on my way. But I'm gonna go somewhere else and coach."
Those are the words of a very successful and now floundering mercenary -- a highly-paid-for-performance coach and an Alabama not a Clemson man. Many Clemson fans may choose to pull for Coach Swinney at his next university coaching gig. I will not, but I will be grateful for his success as a Clemson coach and wish him good health and happiness.

which the University used to be where is today; exempli gratia, 2010 was the year of Excellence?
The Flutie Effect
Seemingly he transformed the entirety of Clemson's messaging into Clemson Family. Corner to corner, the Clemson culture, up front and personal.
https://news.clemson.edu/finding-the-clemson-family-in-every-corner-of-campus/
The University recognized how important he & Kathleen were, then awarded them both:
https://alumni.clemson.edu/swinneys-named-honorary-alumni/
His salary was not just about Football, but the contributions to the University and area in total, he and Kathleen had to then, and continue now to make.
That's in no way designed to diminish peoples' disappointment, frustration et al.

Understand my comments may come off as a bit cold for some. We are in complete agreement, Coach Swinney's pay is commensurate with the money and development he has generated within Clemson, both the town and university.

Most the time it's not mean spirited, just curt, in a time saving sort of way.
That's a relative long way of saying I get it. My replies are often meant more for others than the OP, definitely in your case.
I believe you get it as well.
