My take on the REAL problem. Please read.

I think it's all about recruiting. There is a problem with our recruiting in two areas. 1. We MUST start focusing more on getting better OL and DL and less on skill positions. For years Clemson was great up front and succeeded with average to slightly above average skill guys. USuC had all the skill guys and we owned them! Sammy, Nuk, Ellington, and Taj do you no good if you can't protect them. A DOMINATE DEFENSE starts with a dominate front. This helps your linebackers too. We had great LB's for years, but a lot of why is we kept guys off of them by having a dominate front four. 2. We must stop going after flashy out of state guys and get more instate guys that this rivalry means more to. I HATE HATE HATE USuC and would fight them til my last breath. Some of these out of state guys know it's a rivalry and they don't like USuC, but they didn't grow up here understanding the deep rooted hatred and loathing that fuels this rivalry. Until we start changing our approach to recruiting I fear we're in for more of the Same. I like Dabo and I don't think he's soft, I think he wants a physical, violent team, he just doesn't understand how to go about getting it! Ed McDaniel was a 5'9" LB nobody wanted, but that guy was a warrior! We have to get guys who understand what representing Clemson really means and how you do it! You fight, until you can't stand and til your bloody and out of breath and then you fight some more! My 9 year old asked last night, "How come they ALWAYS win?". That cut deep. I explained that they don't and in fact we're way ahead overall and she wanted to know why we have been losing lately. She hates USuC and it bothers her that her "friends" at school raz her about it. Kills me inside. This must stop!

It starts upfront - Dominant OL/DL

I've been saying this for years.
I want the dominant "big uglies" that Clemson used to have.
Our coaches can recruit; they've proven that.
I just don't think they're focused enough on get the powerful offensive and defensive linemen.

Dabo & staff haven't proven they can recruit quality depth at OL... not even close. If he can't do it in the next two years, he should be fired.

Good post...I think you are right.Dabo is doing a great job and the coaches see what we see....they see lack of intensity and they see lack of overall physical dominance ...I believe Venables will recruit those tough hard nosed....over achieving aggressive style players that we need!

We definitely need to focus more on the O and D lines in

recruiting. We don't need 23 five-star WRs if it means getting manhandled in the trenches. I would love to DOMINATE in the trenches, with both a DOMINANT O-line and a DOMINANT D-line.

I said this to begin this season before i was sent off on orders to a new school. Until we can recruit like Spurrier does at USuC we will continue to get manhandled by them and any team with a pulse up front. My rackmate from Boot Camp at Parris Island is a coot and ive had to listen to him for far too long. If Dabo and his staff cant understand this get rid of them and get someone who does.

Totally agree with you on this point:
I think it's all about recruiting. There is a problem with our recruiting in two areas. 1. We MUST start focusing more on getting better OL and DL and less on skill positions
We need RN or someone like him. A DT that can take up 2 blockers. OTs that can be walls to DEs.

But skill positions have higher stars.

We've beat USC in recruiting the past 3 years. OL recruits always have lower stars, so they will pull us down and we will lose recruiting! Just let Dabo work his magic so we can win in Feb. No one cares what happens in November.

Deemphasize the importance of a stupid football game to your 9 year old. You are the greatest influence in your child's life and you are currently miserable and talking "hate" for fellow citizens of our state. You will raise a much happier and mature individual if her happiness and self- worth is not dictated by what some teenagers do in a football game.

Sammy, Nuk et. all were pretty much manhandled by a (just as fast) much stronger, physical defensive backfield. Actually, the Tajh to Nuk TD catch was just a perfect ball usually ill-advisedly thrown into double coverage. Point is, we got whipped by the ##### all over the field with their defense, except for a few great running plays.
