What's the one place on campus when you were a student

that you can put yourself back to in your mind and remember how special the time was at CU? For me, I have some great memories of just sitting out in the round concrete benches outside of Harcombe before and after dinner. You'd be there just chillin with friends and connecting with many others who were coming and going.

Another is the walkway at the library over the reflection pond. As a student, that was just a cool place to see lots of fellow students passing by, and the scene of looking over the pond to the amphitheater never got old.

What for you?

I can’t put my finger on just one place. Anywhere I was with friends was always the best place for me. Whether it was eating in Harcombe, throwing a frisbee on Bowman Field, walking to class, throwing somebody in the reflection pool, drinking downtown, playing intramurals, etc, I just liked being with my buddies. It was all special to me.

I liked all the sporting events (guess that's why I was a bad student) but especially loved being on the front row of the bleachers in the old field house for basketball games . Really could harass the opposing players from there!

It is tough to pick one place from many: Hall hockey C-5 vs D-5, Dans with grilled cheeseburger and pinball, Saturday at one, late night chocolate milk from P&A, blanket concerts at the Amphitheater or Fike, shirtless baseball sitting on grass where the tennis courts and Lot 1 are now, the juice shop for heated honey buns, rat riots on the quad - or uptown, and yes, front row bleacher seat under the basket opposite the stage. That may be the best as you had to arrive early to get in, it was raucous, and absolute fun beating Bones, Bubas, etc.

I thought about that one too. After dinner at Harcombe, we’d go down the stairs and into the tunnel to go check for mail. Then we’d circle back to the game room to play some pool.

I was an Ag major and lived in Thornhill, so I often take that walk from Thornhill to the P&A in my mind. Loved getting milkshakes between classes, when I had the money. I also think about the many basketball games I played on that parking lot basketball court across from Schilleter. I probably spent more time there than in class.

I have many memories of Clemson. Every time I get close, I get chills and my mind starts going back to all the fun times I had.

One in particular was when Charlie Ts was located down from Fike. We would go there every Thursday night, eat, and play pool. We had the best time with our friends and girlfriends at the time. I looked forward to those nights.

Clemson had a jock dorm back then for the football players. My dorm room in Benet Hall was like Grand Central Station and my roommate and I spent many an hour sitting on our beds, listening to records and telling stories with other players that would wander in and out. We always left the door open and guys would just walk in and out at their leisure. I wish I could remember all the tall tales and stories because there were some really great ones that produced millions of laughs.

So many unique places I associate with my time at Clemson. Intermural softball, ultimate frisbee on Bowman, repelling and hiking at whitewater falls, night skiing at some small slope in GA, bartending downtown at Penny Annies, and walking our beautiful campus, especially when the days got warmer and the clothes got skimpier.

I say all that to say that what I remember most is when I would return to campus after a break or trip and right before I took the exist off 123, I would have the most amazing feeling of coming home. I get that same feeling to this day when I return.

Go tigers!

I worked in the dairy before classes. The ice cream was great but I think the egg nog we made at Christmas was the best thing. The ice cream at the 55 Exchange today is the same formula. The mix is bought from a dairy processing company that is run by a Clemson graduate and the food science students freeze the mix and add the flavors. The milk shakes are still very good but cost a lot more than $1.

Thursday night Karaoke at TDs or Keith Street Friday happy hour. I was a Mkt major so spent a lot of time in Sirrine Hall so I would go and most of the professors were there too for happy hour, so I think I was able to grease the wheels a bit with my professors over beers which may or may have not tipped the scales in my favor. My junior and senior year I lived in a condo on Finley St right behind Keith St so it was perfect. Thats all gone now.

Best place on campus was people-watching on Bowman or the park outside of Sirrine Hall. Lived in Johnstone F-Annex my freshman year.... remember going to the post office or the laundry room behind it. Watching the ROTC kids where they used to have the ROTC HQ. I made friends with the lunch ladies at Harcombe so I would always get extra french fries on the grill line and would always take a to-go lunch with me to snack on later in the day.

Loved go to lift at Fike and would go on jogs around Riggs Field at night.

Majix Dogs at Majix Mart were always a good call after last call.

Saturday night 1201s.... Unless you were going to the Top of the Tavern and had that VIP membership.. hahahaha

Staying up all night eating Papa John's pizza in Johnstone playing Tiger Woods on Nintendo or Sega all night.

9.99 cases of Natty Light or $50 kegs of Keystone Ice.

Freshmam year (1995) getting double the football b/c the Panthers played at DV in their first year.

Baseball games in the spring tailgating in right field.

Charlie T's on the lake

The riot in Daniel Square in 1999/2000 that made the news.

On campus would probably be all the time I spent at Fike playing basketball. I also refereed intramural basketball for a couple of years.

The one that really takes me back is shooting pool at Penny Annie’s. Spent a lot of time there. Also as a freshman going to the Bookstore dancing with the girl from the neighboring prefab who I am still married to. She dropped out after our freshman year but she already had her Mrs. degree.

I attended Baylor. Baylor is in Waco, Texas. Waco is a litter box.

So imagine a bunch of uptight Baptist kids with raging hormones and massive guilt complexes sharing the same four-square-mile section of said sandbox for four years.

However, these are a couple of decent memories in no particular order:

*jogging counter-clockwise around the Bear trail right around the time all the sorority girls would walk/jog clockwise around the Bear trail.

*playing Sega NHL hockey with my dorm mates before going to class in the morning or before hitting the library in the evening. Some of my dorm mates would play right on through all their classes, such was their commitment to achieving Sega greatness. They weren't at Baylor very long.

*$0.74 bean burritos from the Taco Bell by campus. Back when all the money you needed for dinner could be dug out of the ash tray in your pickup truck.

*my German professor. This dude had married an American gal and fled the Soviet bloc and gotten his degrees and citizenship in the U.S.. He'd been in the Hitler Jugend. And while by then he must've been in his mid-60s, he was still a very severe, very scary man.

But not without his upside because in addition to teaching us all how to say "Ich nehme eine letzen Spaten" along with some catchy Wehrmacht marching/drinking songs, he also taught us that being a scary former Nazi is no way to go through life.
