Has the ACC become more of a football conference than a basketball conference?

The rankings suggest that it has. ACC basketball seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth.
Is this the year we get back to the ACC Championship Game for the first time since Oliver Purnell took us in 2008 - 17 years ago.

Interesting take.
I tend to think it's become more like a "sucks at everything" conference, but there is room for reasonable disagreement.

It is trending that way because of the significant dollars involved. People will always chase the money...

Gone are the days of Dean Smith, Coach K, Lefty Drisell, and Roy Williams coaching dominance in the ACC. This is what made the ACC the conference it was. Even Tony Bennett is gone. All the coaches that are relevant in the conference are Scheyer (Duke) and Hubert Davis (UNC). these two don't light a candle to the ones I just mentioned. Great coaches in hoops make great conferences, and the ACC doesn't have those individuals anymore. It has become more of a football conference with younger, better coaches than in the past. With the additions of SMU, Miami, Syracuse coaches, the overall strength is better in football.

Through time and attrition ol Brownell is becoming the Dean of the modern ACC coaches. Weird
I have been wondering if Brownell would be like the old Depaul coach Coached 40 something years but it was the very end of his tenure that he got them NCAA bids consistently

IF Brownell was going to be an elite coach, it would have happened long before 14 years. I like what Lou Holtz said years ago at Notre Dame: "By year three(3) you know what you have in a HC." Making an elite 8 does not make you a great coach. It means you got a little lucky. I would bet my shaved head that it wont happen again for Clemson basketball this 2024-25 season. Give it another 10 years.

Stanford takes basketball somewhat seriously.... especially the women's team.
Not sure about Cal and SMU

I'd call it more of a Lacrosse conference.

It’s more of a soccer conference imo. Basketball and football are not very good. Baseball is above average.

Football is the ACC's money maker and FSU and Clemson are the leading money makers.
