Lot of hype about this guy coming in. I know redshirting and sitting for 2 years was the original plan. God forbid Cade is worse then last year and we start off like 0-3, 1-2 is vizzina ready to play? My biggest worry is that he’s another bust bc I haven’t heard anything about him.

Might be the gas station burrito talking. FWIW, football players develop at an individual pace. We have seen many players who needed more time than others like Capehart as an example.

It's VERY rare for a player that is going to end up being a playmaker to accomplish nothing during his first 2-3 years in school. Considering all the hype that surrounded Capeheart's recruitment, he's a bust for no other reason that he's done virtually NOTHING in his time here. Sorry, but that's reality.
As for Vizzina, there's no evidence that Clemson has a coach on staff who can produce material results for improving the performance of our QBs. Watson and Lawrence taught Streeter the finer points of the position; he had little or nothing to offer them to get them ready for the NFL. Vizzina has pretty much thrown an interception every time we've seen him play. Unfortunately he looks to be a bust, and that's very bad news... we really REALLY needed him to be ready to step up when Cade goes through one of his spazz-outs like he did up in Raleigh last year.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I wouldn't call Capehart a bust. Need to look at who was in front of him. All are in the NFL. This will be his year to shine. Now if he gets beat out by one of the underclassmen then we can start talking bust but I doubt that happens. He shined when he got his chances last year and I think he will break out big this year.

I sincerely do, from the bottom of my heart. But when I look back at the great ones we've had in the recent past, very few if any of them failed to distinguish themselves before their senior year. I'm thinking back to Capeheart's recruiting and the HUGE hype he got. He was going to be the next Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence and Clelin Ferrell combined. That all seemed to be immediately forgotten.

I think Capehart had some injuries plus was playing behind Ruke and Tyler. Late last season the light really came on for him. I just read that some scouts are watching him closely (even in the first days of camp) as a potential first or second round pick. If he’s healthy we won’t be complaining about Woods playing DE this season.

Injuries last year? Ok. What about the year before that? Ruke and Tyler didn't play all the snaps. Those guys rotate in and out - and if Capeheart was Cape-able, he would have at LEAST been making his presence known against the Furmans and the SC States on the schedule. But he didn't. FWIW, neither did Bryan Bresee, not nearly to the extent his hype would have indicated. And he was a round one pick, right?
I really don't care if a guy goes high in the draft if he didn't make a comparable mark here. Injuries, wuhan, yeah yeah. I know.

Dabo said he enters camp as the #2 QB. That’s either because he had a better spring camp overall as compared to Pearman (we know the single data point of the spring game showed otherwise), or perhaps the staff wanted to avoid a transter out in the spring. I’m leaning towards he’s delivering in practice but still on a learning curve under live bullets. Hopefully the media can enough in the limited windows provided to give us a better understanding.

In the past someone ask what the difference is between a 5* and a 3* player. The explanation was that a 5* was ready to step in as a freshman and play. Hopefully for Vizzina he is developing into a 5* player with two years sitting behind Cade and being coached up.

If you’re trying to disrespect Will Shipley..
I say he certainly played to the caliber of a 5 star during his time at Clemson
There was more than one game that he single handed leg brought us back into
Just the whole team around him, and admittedly him at times, could not function with so much transition they were going through
I predict he’ll be a nice surprise in the NFL

Dabo says he’s ready to play and has a firm hold on second string. Dabo also said he could win with any of his four QB’s.

Kelly also finished the A&M game when Trevor came in hit a flash in the pan then started struggling under the big lights...without the move back to KB I don't think we would have left College Station with a W.
By the way that game is my favorite away I've ever been to.

Don't think Vizzina has...lots of these private Christian schools don't have the same level of competition that you see at a 6A program in a competitive district! Fire cures iron...might look good on cellulite or paper but fire smokes those! If we ar e this slow in developing a QB the ball has been dropped! Hope you caught the humor above!

Matt, Matt, Matt....you know Cade will beat your little birds again, right? Cade starting off worst than last year--LOL. Study last season and the 4 loses. I don't think you have to worry about Cade. Vizzina will get his chance but only in mop up for now. Oh, I know it's hard to be a newbie here on Tigernet and post positive posts.LOL.

The word is that he's a project
Has the arm, but has difficulty reading defenses at the line and is prone to making bad decisions
They wanted to get him some experience last year in mop up duty, but we were never in position to really do that.
Dabo has been really good (unlike Ryan Day and his ilk) of putting in the 2nd and 3rd string once the game is in hand. Last year was a missed year of developmental snaps. Most all the extra snaps were due to trial by fire injury/performance issues

Let's count him as a bust. If he's hasn't been able to push Cade for a starting job tells you how good he is. I have learned to not buy into the hype from coaches about how good a player is. The adjectives of baller, grinder, gritty, etc have been thrown around so much I don't pay no attention to them. In the past 10 years QB is the one position Clemson has not done well at developing players. DLine and CB have been about the only positions that we've seen players consistently develop in the last 10 years. This is evident by the # of Clemson players picked in the NFL draft at these positions. DW4 and TL16 were pro ready when the came in from day 1. Kelly Bryant and DJU got progressively worst. Both had terrible footwork and throwing mechanics. Cade is headed down the same path with his poor decision making and lack of pocket presence. Not sure who's doing the evaluation of High school prospects at this position but it's obvious it's not working. Never was impressed with Streeter or OC Riley. NO MORE TALK!! AUGUST 31ST @ 12NOON IN THE GEORGIA DOME. BEAT THEM DAWGS. GO TIGERS!!

Been saying this for awhile. Vizzina will never play meaningful snaps at Clemson outside of injury.
Dude was rated on potential and what he could be… not what he is. He is another wasted scholarship and if he’s forced to play at all… we’re in serious trouble.
Some will continue to complain about Cade and that’s fine bc he’s earned most of it bc he ain’t “that dude” either but it’s not close between Cade and Vizzina and that’s a scary thought but it’s true.
