Hard to get excited about commitments anymore

Or, maybe I’m being overly pessimistic. Seems like a commitment flip was a rarity that happened at most once every year or two. It seems like 20% or more of our recent “commits” went elsewhere. I certainly understand why when money is the main driver behind the decision, not development, education, life after football, etc. Hope I’m wrong but until they’re on the field, I’ll try to remain cautiously optimistic. Have a great Sunday fellow Tigers!

You have the wrong outlook on life like most people these days. Celebrate the commitment with the understand it could change.

I think if we keep the staff together that it won't be such a big problem as it has been.

and that he tells recruits what commitment means and we didn’t have to worry about losing them.
People being hesitant to count these guys as signees at this point isn’t unreasonable.
For the record, I do think Dabo is a good recruiter and I am optimistic that the new staff as well as Dabo’s apparent shift in how he uses NIL will make a difference here. But commitment does not equal signing.

Let's see what happens in this class. Too early to think we can't get it done.

Honestly, I was similar last year after seeing us get hit with a bunch of decommitments.
However, I feel like with NIL starting to simmer down some that I can feel a little more confident in commitment news again. Mainly because I know Clemson is trying to be competitive and still targeting the right kind of recruits.
Of course, anything can happen (just like last year) but I feel we're in a better spot now as opposed to this point last year.

IMO that was mainly bc of HC's for other schools pounding on Dabo and his previous coaching hires, they can't do that this time around!!!

Those decommittments last year were about lack of NIL, not our coaching staff. Dabo basically said that & this year we supposedly are competitive. If so, retention of commitments should be high.

I guess you're overly something bc I've been a Tiger FB fan since I was 10 years old and that was 62 years ago and I still get excited about any and everything that can make our FB team better prepared for winning more championships. I understand that the NIL has a lot of folks down on college sports, but we are still Clemson Tigers still after winning at the highest level!!!

I think we got a better handle on NIL this time around. Dabo has finally bought in and I’m sure all this is discussed with kids before commitment

If the commitment is because of NIL money then the decommitments, whether at Clemson or Arkansas State, will also be because of NIL money now that the market has put a price on a recruit.

that Brownell has been helping Dabo. Brad doesn’t lose commitments because he has his recruiting pitch dialed in and also leads with NIL where appropriate. Dabo seems to be taking notes and I believe our football program will be better for it.

I agree but hopefully after what we all witnessed this past December, Clemson will be able to offer more to keep them with us once the tampering starts.

Relax. Those that depart are usually divas.
And divas are prominently playmakers.
Our class right now is bouyed by the significant efforts of Luke and O lineman are less likely to bail than.
Personally I think these guys ( oline ) are already bonding and we are watching that play out in real time.
Take that a step farther.
We all realize the importance of an talented o line and what that means to be a dynamic offense. Don't you think the players get that ? I would certainly think so , and that factor alone is reassuring or it should be.
Just enjoy the ride. The best is yet to come.

I might add that our o line improvement bodes well for signing the next truly elite QB because I can guarantee you they will go where they believe they will best be protected. It's all related

How excited would you be if we weren’t getting such commitments? Your point is taken, but every Tiger fan should be excited about the recruiting vibe from this weekend.
Fearing things that haven’t happened yet is borrowing trouble.

Cautiously optimistic is fair.
Winning matters. Prospects' confidence that joining the Clemson program is the best decision they can make matters.
Seeing Clemson Football's big weekend culminate in 'commitments' is positive momentum. Much better to see this trend vs. the alternative of these guys 'committing' to other programs.
