He would have closed out the game vs the coots in greenville. He would have closed out the game vs Duke the other day and would have closed out the game last night. The entire season would have been completely different. We would be 3-1 in acc play and won the series vs the coots.
That loss last night was a back breaker. The game was essentially over.

You may be right, but this team’s middle relief is just plain bad

Even with a closer, this team is going to have a tough time winning games this year.
That’s unfortunate, because i think we are a decent hitting team.
Pretty clear what the focus will be on for recruiting and the transfer portal this off-season though

All of that is accurate. However, the team as a whole is playing better than last year, and that is what I am taking away from this season regardless of record. This year I was taking a mulligan on anyway. I see improvement and that is all I was looking for.

I don't see how you say that, but if it makes you feel better that's fine. It's the same if not worse than last year with right now 9 months of coaching from the new staff. Our arms aren't that bad, guys until you can recruit like the SEC, this caliber of arms is all we are going to get, which based on rankings is good. We lost multiple instate kids to out of state programs? Why? Because they have resources to get them in financially and we don't have that ability. CU baseball isn't going to be any better with any coach until you fix our ability to recruit out of state.

Respectfully I say that because we are hitting better up and down the line up, Fewer strikeouts, more aggressive base running, fewer errors, fewer 4-5 run innings given up by pitching, fewer fly out "almost" homers, less talk about "launch angle" and "exit velocity", More hitting. In other words better baseball. I think most people who watched last years team regularly will agree. Now I do agree that more improvement needs to be done. As far as recruiting last year we were at 18 with Perfect Game. For 2024 we stand at 36 which you are correct is not good enough, but there is still a long way to go before we wrap that class. I am willing to see what happens.

You can’t continue to leave a dozen on base and get 3-4 hits a game. Our strategy this season might be get a few walks and “hbp” and just start stealing like crazy. I do think we are improving and I like the hustle and determination.

We continue to use Grice as a starter and try to get 3-4-5 innings out of him. I would rather see 3-4 innings from him as a mid relief or closer.

Grice has more potential in the mound right now. People have figured hard on the hands and slow away low to beat Grice. If you elevate over the plate he has OPO power to drive it out of the park. He is a big boy with tons of tools, but he will go high draft as an arm, then get a cha be to hit a couple years to see if they can fix some of his swings and misses
