One reason it’s been so tough for UGA over the years is that the SEC spans multiple time zones.

Jun 25, 2021, 1:27 PM

Can you imagine how difficult it would be for us to succeed as a program if we had to travel to play teams in another time zone? I mean, think about how difficult it must be for UGA to have to travel to Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, etc. and deal with the extreme jet lag and fatigue brought on by the extensive traveling! It’s no wonder that there is no millennial alive who has ever witnessed a UGA national championship. The SEC needs to circle back to this problem if it plans to remain competitive as a conference.

They have looked very tired in some of the games we played. LSU comes to mind, and our NC where alabama just seemed so tired they quit.

Forget about time zones, imagine how much harder it would be for Clemson if they didn't play in a Pop Warner conference.

We even beat the SEC's premier team both times in recent years. You have to have something better than Pop Warner conference if you're going to get in this fight.

I never suggested Clemson wasn't good. I pointed out they benefit by their weak conference

So let’s focus on your weak putrid division. How many national title contenders will come from the LAME SEC East this fall? Florida? Missouri? Kentucky? South Carolina? Vanderbilt? Tennessee? We won’t even get into the cupcakes that are in the Western division.

Dumb people need to look themselves in the mirror!

Re: LOL! We have three national championships to Uga.'s one.

Jun 25, 2021, 4:26 PM

You're changing the narrative. I never said anything about the SEC East. I'm referring to how awful the ACC is, and it is, whether or not you want to admit it. Name the ACC team, other than Clemson, better than UGA, Florida, Bama, LSU, or Texas A&M. There are a number of teams in the SEC East who are not national contenders. Florida, for example. Yet, Florida would likely beat everyone in the ACC except Clemson.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But the original narrative was about UGA’s difficulty managing the time zone issue.

Half the TV revenue, half the 5 stars and half the commissioner (Swoffy vs. Slive) and still 3 times the natl championships and diplomas. Works for me.

Pop Warner Leagues

Jun 25, 2021, 7:01 PM [ in reply to Re: LOL! We have three national championships to Uga.'s one. ]

AFDAWG, it's good to have you on our board. Yall are the one of the best talking season teams in the country. And everyone enjoys some pre-game jawing.

Bama plays in a Pop Warner league, just like Clemson. In the last five years Bama has 3 SEC conference losses. In the last five years, Clemson has 3 ACC conference losses. Hmmm, so Bama and Clemson both own their own conferences.

In the last five years, Bama has lost twice to ACC teams and Clemson has lost twice to SEC teams.

In the last five years, Clemson is 8-2 versus the SEC. In games against the same SEC teams Clemson has played, Georgia is 7-5 and I think that's interesting. It doesn't mean anything with respect to our upcoming games, but it shows the Tigers have been better than the Dawgs when playing the same SEC teams.

You and I both know than games played in the last five years mean nothing about our game in September.

I love the way this has worked out. If Clemson beats Georgia, the world mostly yawns.
If Georgia beats Clemson, it's a huge boost for the Dawgs. Since I've been watching both teams for the past 50 years, I think that particular fact is telling. We've come a long way. Your boys? Not so much.

As I count them, in the last 30 years, states that border Georgia have won a lot of National Championships. GT won a Natty, Clemson won two Nattys, Florida won 3 Nattys, FSU won 3 Nattys, Miami won 2 Nattys,Tennesse won a natty, Auburn won a Natty and Bama won 7 Nattys. So college teams in states in or bordering your home state have won 20 National Championships in the past 30 years. Georgia? Zero. Zip. Nada.

Man, that must hurt. It would kill a lesser man, so congrats for manning up. You are a heck of a fan, backing a team that has won nothing in 30+ years. That has got to hurt.

I'd wish you good luck in the 9/4 game, but we'd both know I was lying.

The Pop Warner of all Pop Warners operates out of Columbia, SC,

Jun 25, 2021, 1:58 PM [ in reply to Re: One reason it’s been so tough for UGA over the years is that the SEC spans multiple time zones. ]

but they beat you 50% of the time in the last decade, specifically 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2019.

You would think playing a Pop Warner like Sakerlina would help overcome the time zone fatigue thing, but it’s obvious that time zones are much more devastating than conventionally thought.

SC has also beaten Clemson 4 times over the time period you cited. What's your point?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You’re making my point beautifully -

Jun 25, 2021, 6:41 PM

we struggled because we play cupcake ACC ball and can’t compete with SEC-level talent very well at all.

UGA is more than equipped to bang with the big boyz, so one of the influencing factors contributing to underperformance must be time zones.

Didn’t that Pop Warner Conf send two teams to CFP last year while the SEC sent one? Uga played the role of Bama’s fluffier, as usual.

Jun 25, 2021, 8:30 PM

It is no more difficult for UGA to have to travel to Baton Rogue than it is for LSU to travel to Athens. The problem lies more or less in the travel restrictions of the University of Georgia. Due to the every growing demand of breeding bull dogs, the University has had scale back on the use of more modern jets , ie it's more fatigue than jet lag because the Dawgs are reduced to travel in planes that are propeller driven, not Jet propulsion.
Therefore this is not an SEC problem.
