GT's top WR is a Frosh that runs a 10.2 100M. We didn't recruit him?

Eric Singleton Jr. is 3 star guy from the state of Georgia. It baffles me that we didn't recruit him knowing good and well that have lacked speed at the WR position for years. What is Grisham doing? Evaluation and development of the WR position has been as weak a link on the team as the OL. Disappointing.

We have two fast receivers coming in this next season

In Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore. Tyler Brown is fast, so is Antonio Williams. Collins, Stellato, and Randall have adequate speed. Speed has not been an issue with the receivers, it’s been drops. Not that many drops, but drops in key situations. Outside of that the Receivers have been getting open this season. Our receiver play over the last two years was due to Randall, Collins, and Ngata having injury issues, along with Ajou and Frank Larson not being all in. Recruiting is not an issue at receiver.

How do you not think we've had a speed issue?

The last 2 or 3 years we've had problems with Wrs getting separation. If Cole Turner who was a low 11 sec 100M guy in high school is your fastest WR, you have a speed problem. If he gets hurt and you no longer have a deep threat on the team, you have a speed problem. A. Williams is good, but he's more quick than fast. T. Brown was a step in the right direction. Wesco and Moore look good, but their track credentials suggest they aren't burners. Singleton would have definitely fit a need considering we consider the state of Georgia as basically in state recruiting.

a only a three star. Nothing will satisfy you. By the way here is a clip of TJ Moore burning defenses for like an 80 yard touchdown.

If we had recruited him, many people on this board would have questioned why Grisham was recruiting a 3 star WR.

Nobody will question the recruitment of a guy that runs a 10.2 100m that can actually catch no matter how many stars he has. I can understand recruiting him and him not picking us, but it doesn't even look like he was ever even on our radar. That's the troubling thing considering our needs.

We can't sign everybody. Was he even interested in Clemson. No matter how many good players you get you will play against good ones you couldn't / didnt get.

Nuke wasn't the fastest, Jerry Butler or Renfrow - but they caught the ball, battled and caught the 50/50 balls. We don't do that anymore. (Stellato seems to be a battler, but 80 is soft) I don't want the fastest, I want the meanest with the best hands.
That may be why I'm an awesome keyboard coach....

The first step is admitting that we can only speculate as none of us are college football coaches.
Maybe if all us realized this then there would be less fighting about whose opinion is right or wrong.

Our most explosive offenses in the Dabo Era tended to have at least 2 guys who were burners: Spiller/ Ford and Watkins/ M. Bryant. When we've been really good, we've at least had one guy who was a threat to go the distance every time he touched the ball (ie. Etienne). Who's been that guy since Travis left?

To be honest, we haven't had a "burner" at WR since Sammy and Martavis left. Tee & Mike were All-Pro type players and could go deep but they were not burners. If you look at film, Wesco & Moore are not burners either. Hopefully they will develop to get in the class with Tee & Mike, but they don't have the flat out speed of a Sammy, or Jacoby Ford. We could sure use an Olympic class burner on the outside just to add flavor to the mix.

It's amazing that fans do not understand the difference between track speed and football speed. Not to mention that WR separation has very little to do with speed and everything to do with technique, quickness and the ability to play fast (not having to think before moving)
