This is where the parabolic mid-year upside is for the 2025 Clemson Offense. For those worried about Davidson's blocking, maybe he can block. But blocking was not a priority for CJ Spiller or Travis Etienne, and they both entered the rotation quickly.

ETN played much more early than I remember he did.... one thing that stands out was how little he played in the Sugar Bowl vs Bama b/c he kept whiffing on blocks. He was electric... but it did take him time to learn how to pick up the blitz. The link is his stats by game in 2017, his freshman year. His great story is we weren't even looking at him until Burton Burns, the Bama RB coach put us on to him b/c he didn't have a spot for him. Burton Burns came with TB in 1999 to coach the RBs. We had Travis Zachery and Javis Austin. Pat Cyrgalis moved to TE in 1999 from RB and Vinnie Circuiu transferred to BC and moved to LB and had a great NFL career. Terry Witherspoon was another bruiser we had at RB in 1999.

It's important to remember ETN was a developmental RB that vastly improved year over year
In fact , he wasn't a highly coveted RB but more or less fell in our lap after having missed on highly rated RB targets.

That being said , he proved if you're hungry enough you can make it happen

GD on the other hand more closely resembles the CJ recruitment.
I remember how elated I was that we got him , because I had my doubts we could land a leading RB recruit. Our track record in that regard bears out his signing was an anomoly....until GD.

Yes , I recall speedy ( bust ) , C Richardson
( Tenn ) DeMarcus Bowman ( gators ) but none worked out.

I'm confident we have cause to be excited about Davifson

Incidentally, guess who signed the nation's top RB. Yes , LSU. It will be interesting to see if he sees the field in the opener also.
LSU also inked the top QB , so there's that.
