Anybody living in the Midlands and interested in a 24 KW Generac, let me know because I have a connection with one of the best installers around, and they are offering a small discount and including a 10-year maintenance plan, including parts & labor. I'm just a very satisfied Generac customer.

The 24kw and 35kw is the commercial and 21.5kw is the residential unless that changed in the last few months. The commercials used to send more phase to the 220v and less to 110v and not as convenient to residential households. Actually couple years ago I had a friend with big property that he hired me to install generators and we had to go with a 9kw and a 21.5kw, both Generacs, but the 35KW Commerial would not cover his 110v needs on propane so we had to split units. Maybe Generac isnt as limited now 2yes later but usage and economically, the 2 units were better for big residential house. Plus the commercial units cost much more and are larger. Just my experience. I installed both those units for around $15-16k. Just the 2 units combined cost me around $9500 just to buy with buyer discounts.

You lost me. All I did was have the unit installed 3 years ago and it performed flawlessly for 6 days during Helene running on propane.

I agree great units from my experience. I was just saying that 24kw is usually considered their Commercial unit and cost more. I was just giving background info on Generac knowledge as there have been several inquiries recently on tnet about generators. I am glad it served you well as I have installed 5-6 for people and all have been happy.

That's enough to run about 4 standard homes worth of power.
Granted, load and fuel are one thing. But, so are initial cost and installation.
You can get a 7500w unit for way less, and do the same.... at least if you aren't running a mansion

7500 will not run a household unless you manage use. You cant run freezer, clothes dryer, hotwater heater, ovens, microwave not to mention AC/Heat pump and TVs, lights, etc on 7500w. A 21.5/24kw will run your house as if you lived daily with all appliances running. But you will suck your fuel. 7500 will allow you to manage farly comfortable but you wont be running a dryer, taking a hot shower and baking bread at the same time.

BUt typically in times when you need the generator, you can do without some of those creature features in your home.
