From a moderator on the FOBBV site:

DNA test is the only way to positively determine sex in Bald Eagles. We may or may not estimate sex by about 10 weeks of age based on size, vocal pitch and other visual characteristics.

Had 9 bald eagles hovering over me last weekend on Lake Moultrie. 3 were immature with 6 adults. Pretty sure they were there to terrorize the 6 pair of osprey and steal their fish when they caught one. Well that and dive bombing coots, the real ones unfortunately!
