It's not tampering if he was only committed. commitment means nothing until they sign. Dabo is about the only coach in college that will usually quit pursuing someone after they commit to another program. this is by no means illegal or even unethical. Now if they have already signed a letter of intent then that's a different story. He no longer is a commit but a signee and coaches are not supposed to talk to the player that has signed to another program. Again "Supposed". IT sounds like he was just a commitment not a signee.

Nothing seems to be unethical in determining where a player is going to work, playing sports these days.

I can't blame the players at this point, this is the kind of environment the ncaa cooked up.

His deal with South Carolina was apparently in the $1 million range, so it wouldn't be surprising if some other big dog was the one calling and throwing money around. Probably headed to a blue blood.
