is really making an early mark with the Ravens. They love him!!! Players calling him Nasty Nate. Coaches are saying doing better than they expected and they expected a lot. He's going o get a lot of on field time this year as a rookie. This is just a sample of what they are saying.

Assistant Head Coach/Pass Game Coordinator Chris Hewitt already knew about Wiggins' speed and athletic ability. But Hewitt is learning more about Wiggins' competitive spirit, which is helping him play with confidence.

At age 20, Wiggins is the youngest player on Baltimore's roster but he's not playing as if he lacks experience.

"He is extremely competitive, more competitive than I thought he was," Hewitt said. "He's got the whole mentality. Remember, this guy's only 20 years old. He's not even old enough to drink yet. He's still learning how to be in the NFL, but his competitiveness is the thing that really sticks out to me."

Three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey has given Wiggins a nickname – "Nasty Nate.">

I remember when he turned around after Wake in 2022, like he was on a mission and never looked back.

ALmost as good as the Gaines Adams annihilating Wake's punter, and running 70 yards for the TD, both game changers.

That play probably saved the game against North Carolina. They were having no troubles with our defense and that effort to stop the obvious TD was such a momentum swing.

After he was done speaking with the media, veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey asked a reporter to put a question to the next player speaking at the podium, rookie Nate Wiggins.

Humphrey wanted to be sure after the third day of training camp that Wiggins shared with reporters the nickname he had given him.

“Nasty Nate,” the rookie revealed — a sign of the young cornerback’s strong start to training camp. “I guess I play nasty defense, so that’s his [Humphrey’s] nickname for me,” Wiggins said.

While Wiggins hasn’t officially adopted the moniker, he considers it a big compliment for a three-time Pro Bowler cornerback like Humphrey to take note of his performance.

During Monday’s rainy practice, Wiggins wrestled a pass from wide receiver Sean Ryan for an interception and nearly ran into the coaches as he sprinted back.

“Nate’s been looking good, working on technique,” coach John Harbaugh said.

Baltimore drafted Wiggins with the 30th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. The 20-year-old from Atlanta played three seasons at Clemson, earning first-team All-ACC player his sophomore and junior seasons.

In his junior season, he faced 13 deep targets and only allowed one completion. At the NFL scouting combine, Wiggins ran the 40-yard dash in just 4.28 seconds.

The Ravens considered him the best cornerback in his class, and in the first week of training camp, Wiggins appe

Nasty Nate. Most football players are not built to wear halos around their heads especially at game time. Bubba Brown, Jefferson Davis, Christin Wilkins, Ben Boulware and James Skalski exemplified this.

Nate has come along way. He may follow AJ Terrell as Clemson's next NFL All-Pro CB.
