Fumbles on hand-offs ...........

Oct 8, 2023, 11:03 AM

Honestly, when the QB puts the ball in the RB's stomach and either hands off or keeps it, I am surprised that there are not more fumbles ........ not just us but all teams that run the option. Looking at the fumble yesterday, I was hard pressed to tell whose fault it was. Regardless, we are going to have to do a better job on that option play or we are going to have more fumbles. It has already likely cost us one win and certainly could have cost us yesterday.

Yeah tough to tell but if Cade is pulling the ball

back out, that would have been the correct read with the de crashing down inside.

That seems to be the story of the season. Turnovers especially between the QB/RB exchange are hard to swallow. I mean they teach this in pop Warner football. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult and such a regular problem. I saw Shipley took the fall for the one yesterday but this is getting out of hand. You don’t see it anywhere else and n the country. Especially from a blue chip program

You are right, but there is only a split second where the QB and RB have to make the exchange. Maybe that is one of the reasons that WF uses the slow mesh. I still can't understand why we can't be more effective in stopping the slow mesh.

I really like the delayed handoff and stand in the hole with the ball the way Wake does.... Started it with Hartman.

Its crazy hard to defend and the best play action I have ever seen.... Just think about the options of running a TE in behind the LBs if they jump the handoff.... And if they don't, hand it off.

Wake really runs that beautifully and we defended it so well yesterday. Hats off to our defense.
