Including $2M on the DL which Boston College pushed all over the field.

Yep. Part of what I do not understand. How many times can you throw that kind of money around on a player and he turn out to be a bust. Have no clue after seeing Dr.Pepper get screwed over by DJ’s deal how anyone would want to invest that kind of money into any kid much less DJ. What were they afraid of, him turning pro? His dad is sitting fat and he has not done anything but run his mouth.

Totally don't understand the D.J. thing. I get this whole

NIL/portal thing is like the wild West. FSU seems to be perfect example of how not to do it, but even at that why in the world would anybody have given DJU that deal?

And that is why Norvell is on the hot seat. When you look a booster in the eye and tell him he needs to reach deep in his pocket so you can sign the best to get to the playoffs, and your a bust, donors stop supporting…you.

He's on his way out, but his buy out will be huge, and he'll retire to a nice mansion somewhere.

I said in the off-season that Norvell was searching for fool's gold after last year. Spending all that money for DJU has turned into a nightmare. Clemson needs a RESET on offense. You gotta outscore your opponent to win. It's quite elementary. Use smoke and mirrors. Revamp the playbook. Do whatever is necessary to score points. Average 25-plus points per game and give up 14, and you win 9 out of ten times in football. It doesn't take a Nuclear Physicist to figure that out. SCORE!

Yeah but GT and BC used the portal too...

so that proves that 66.7% of the time the portal is better.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?

• Put up goal posts

What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Judge you remind me a lot of that Rosanna Danna that use to play on that TV show Rowen and Martin's laugh in. Do you remember her favorite saying right before she started snorting, she said if it isn't one thing it's another...

With all the extra coaches they will be allowed to have now, the coaching salaries will increase by a bunch!!!

There are those that have a bunch of money that don't have a clue on how they should spend it!!!! My wife tells her family that if I had a bunch of money that I wouldn't know how to enjoy it bc I was always finding reasons why we shouldn't be spending money...

My reply has always been the same, and that is I believe that if you can hold onto it, it will always be there for when you really need it and you'll never know when that time will be. I'm a penny saved is a penny earned type of man bc it's the truth!!!

I bet they don't get 12 million for next year.

Unless they somehow get to 8-9 wins this year.

Maybe you are correct but some schools seem to have no shortage of boosters willing to give their money to college athletes with little assurance of success. Miami, UF and aTm come to mind as well as USC.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Too bad they didn't take advantage of the portal and NIL

Longterm and area wide this may signal drmise of NIL. How long and how much will donors give before champs or else and they eventually stop giving when theteam doesn’t win. 3 years? 5 years?

Re: FSU spent $12 million on this year's team...

Sep 5, 2024, 8:00 PM

That’s NOTHING! I read recently that Ohio State spent about $25 million just on portal recruiting this year.

Also just read an article where the new proposed revenue sharing or MINIMUM payroll to D1 players will be $23 million per team. They interviewed Radokovich and he said that will be the floor not the ceiling for teams to ante up just to stay relevant and possibly be competitive. Miami and Florida State were the only ACC teams they cited as indicating they are all in on hitting the $23 million minimum. The separation from the NCAA is about to happen.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/as-college-athletics-prepares-for-revenue-sharing-fallout-leaders-wonder-is-a-breakaway-from-the-ncaa-next/

Found the link. Do the settlement is expected to allow schools to allow schools to spend up to 22% of their revenue paying players. They state that average is $23 million per year…I assume for top D1 programs. This is the amount Radakovich said would be the “floor” or minimum to keep teams relevant and in big boy ball. How much would 22% of our current revenue be?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I love it - serves them right as well as other teams spending even more
