I've been saying that schools need to do this. It makes more sense to stream your games yourself now that networks are becoming obsolete.
TV networks will be gone by the end of my lifetime and streaming will be the only way.

Many sports are going into streaming live events.
NFL is the big one. But, lots of minor sports are heading that way. Using streaming rather than broadcast services.
Major League Soccer
Professional fishing (MLF and BASS)
I'm sure FSU is looking at this as one way to increase revenue while they are waiting on their departure from the ACC.
I suspect a decade or so from now, you might see many schools streaming "olympic sports" on their own streaming services. I doubt you will see each individual school streaming live football games on their individual services.

I would gladly pay $250 per year to have the ability to watch all Clemson games in all sports. All clemson needs is 200,000 people who feel the same way.

I believe the ACC commish is cutting a similar deal, but will only be available via dial-up AOL service. All IPTAY members can expect a CD via USPS shortly. He believes it will pair nicely with our current over-the-air coverageprovided by the CW.

So basically this is FSU implementing what we call Clemson+. FSU like all ACC schools invested in broadcast production facilities and do many sports events with their staff (eg lacrosse, soccer, softball, and baseball). However, the rights belong to ESPN and we must stream the live sports through their platforms or ones they have contracted like Raycom or the CW. That leaves special interest content like the football Vlog series to Clemson+ type streaming.

One thing I like is that they are expanding it beyond a mobile app. Currently I think Clemson+ is limited to IPTAY members (I could be mistaken).
