Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013

Apr 24, 2013, 10:24 PM

Demetrius Henry, another one time strong lean to Clemson, signs w/ coots

7 commits for 2013

17 scholly players (only 13 spots)

4 existing players "have" to transfer

Seems pretty shady

Should he get benefit of the doubt for cleaning house of players from the prior coach's regime ..... or is this pretty sleezy not letting the players develop?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Frank Martin shady?

Apr 24, 2013, 10:26 PM

All indications are that Henry wont qualify. I wouldnt put it past Martin to find a way to get him in.

Link. I've followed this closely and the first I heard. We need him.

Apr 24, 2013, 10:41 PM

will this be enough to get out of Brownells shadow?

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Might disagree wit some stuff brownell does

Apr 24, 2013, 10:41 PM

But #### glad to have such a high character coach, and I genuinely hope he can build this program. Had a chance to meet some of his family recently, and they are just some really great people.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Whadaya mean ya won't come play for me????

Apr 24, 2013, 10:42 PM

Ifockin'killya!

2005_ncaa_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've been wrong two times, but this isn't one of them.

Not letting players develop?

Apr 24, 2013, 10:44 PM

you think he's trying to keep them from developing?

Some of those kids aren't his- and aren't kids he would have ever offered in the first place.

Re:you can only blame the AD and the administration for

Apr 24, 2013, 11:05 PM

allowing this farce to take place. Tanner has never had any qualms about doing this.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Everyone who is from Miami excels at cheating. Frank Martin

Apr 24, 2013, 10:52 PM

will eventually get USCjr into hot water with the NCAA. Not if, but when.

Re: Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013

Apr 24, 2013, 11:13 PM

Frank always has been a slime ball.

He fits in perfectly at USC look at how many people SoS has run off.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

null

Henry says he'll be there for 4 years, we know Martin told

Apr 24, 2013, 11:30 PM

him he would be

but Henry can't see that Martin is about to run off 4 or more players and some that he brought in last year will probably go

Cuber will run players off and recruit with dirty hands. What will the NCAA have to say when they catch him. Probably say, it's ok they are in the SEC and all these other violation in the last 10 years don't count.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

definitely sleazy but unfortunatley it will work b/c they'll

Apr 25, 2013, 7:25 AM

have better players with this method. I just hope other schools use this against them in recruiting. He's basically telling better players that if they sign then he'll make room for them but booting some kid who he thinks doesn't make the cut.

Sux for them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Spurrier has routinely oversigned and cut players too, so

Apr 25, 2013, 7:52 AM

Martin's probably been green-lighted on it.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Anything he does is shady.***

One of the reasons Henry committed to the Gamecocks was is mother. She wanted him to play for Martin. Reggie Theus Jr's dad was the one that reached out to Martin from California about his son playing here. Just like all those Miami families that lied about where they lived so their kids could play for Martin. Sounds like a real bad guy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's all fine and dandy, but that means Martin has to

Apr 25, 2013, 12:52 PM

"make room" for these kids.

That's a real crappy thing to do.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013

Apr 25, 2013, 12:57 PM

Martin is finding transfer sites for these players at a place where they may be able to contribute. Carlton Geathers is injured, has been his entire career here. They're getting him a medical redshirt so he can graduate, even though that uses up a scholarship next year. No one is being discarded as y'all seem to think.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So being forced to transfer from the place you committed to

Apr 25, 2013, 12:58 PM

because you want to bring in other players is not being discarded?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So being forced to transfer from the place you committed to

Apr 25, 2013, 2:04 PM

not if you did not fulfill your commitment to play hard and progress. College athletes are free to leave at anytime so it works both ways. At Carolina and at Clemson. There have been many instances of both schools doing it.

If these players have given their best effort on the court and in the classroom, and are keeping their grades up, they have full-filled their commitment. It doesn't work equally both ways. Those kids have to sit out a year.

Re: So being forced to transfer from the place you committed to

Apr 25, 2013, 3:09 PM

Almost the entire team quit in February last year. Brenton Williams and the 3 freshmen are the only players that even want to come back.

Apr 25, 2013, 3:24 PM [ in reply to Re: So being forced to transfer from the place you committed to ]

I wasn't at practice or in the locker room, but based on watching games, it didn't look like they were giving their best effort on the court

Re: Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013

Apr 25, 2013, 3:21 PM

this is the COOT WAY!! oversign and run them off!!SOS does this every year and gets a free pass by admin, BOT and the press!!

Re: Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013

Apr 25, 2013, 3:45 PM

also, don't forget we got the 4* transfer from Villanova. He was the #11 PG out of HS and will have 3 years left. With Demetrius Henry(24) Sindarious Thornwell(4), Tyrone Johnson(11), plus Marcus Stroman(8) and probably LJ Peak(15) next year, we'll have 5 top 25 players at their position.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Then I would be very disappointed in them if they did

Apr 25, 2013, 3:50 PM

not, at least, win the conference championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Then I would be very disappointed in them if they did

Apr 25, 2013, 4:51 PM

well unfortunately for just about everyone...Kentucky seems to have the number one players at each position

Apr 25, 2013, 3:51 PM [ in reply to Re: Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013 ]

And pretty soon the slimy sob will have you in the ncaa jailhouse.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who cares, they still won't contend for an SEC championship.

Apr 25, 2013, 4:52 PM

South Carolina is not a basketball school. Never will be. Football school first and foremost, and the fans have made it pretty clear that baseball is the preferred second sport. They might upset a team or two, but will not achieve consistent, sustained success. Now that I think about it, this is kind of the mindset of most of the SEC.
