For us older guys, the band Toto actually has started to hit

the pop/rock charts with their latest album, particularly overseas, where it is a top 5 album.

Good to see that older bands can still rock and make new music that doesn't get ignored. I guess it happens, though rarely. Kinda' reminds me of the resurrection that Santana made in the early 2000's.

Toto hasn't had an album that charted since 1988.

It's TOTO XIV, btw. Wow. I'm old.

I guess they missed the rains down in Africa.

I listened to it when it came out and haven't since.

I think I thought it was a bit overproduced and didn't have a single that grabbed my attention, though it has all the original members on the album(if I remember correctly).

Toto 14 is a good album, sound s much like past stuff. We're going to Alpharetta to see them and Yes in concert. Wish classic rock radio would play more new songs from these groups.

you are about to see musicianship that is world class

Saw Yes out here in San Francisco a while back......ridiculously talented. They will be missing the great bassist Chris Squire who recently passed away.

That's why Tom Petty's career is so impressive.

Jul 8, 2015, 1:55 PM

He made good music in the 70s and he is still churning out good stuff. Most everybody else that was big in the 70s and 80s is still playing the old stuff because they haven't done anything in years. Tom's not a great songwriter, but he is quite the tunesmith.

Well, he won't back down. You can stand him up at the

gates of Hel!, but he won't back down.

But, he will have a last dance with Mary Jane.

I'm 43 but I just could not get into TOTO

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Some people called them Yacht Rock, so I kinda' get it.

Jul 8, 2015, 2:13 PM

But I liked them. Who doesn't like "Rosanna" or "I won't Hold you Back."?

I don't care for "Hold The Line". "99", or "Africa" all that much.

I guess Rosanna is decent but you are right about Africa I hated that song.

The lead singer died a few months ago***

Best Is The Standard

Toto didn't have a "lead" singer, but yes, former bassist

Jul 8, 2015, 2:20 PM

and one of the vocalist. Mike Porcaro, did die from ALS.

Mike Porcaro actually wrote Michael Jackson' song "Human Nature". Wonder what it would have sounded like if Toto recorded it.

Jeff Porcaro, the drummer, died several years ago

From a heart attack in his yard after yard work. Toto were hellacious musicians across the board.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Toto's debut is 1 of the best debuts of all time.

Jul 8, 2015, 3:23 PM

Not the best, but one of the best, their first album is unlike anything that they'd release after it.
