For those who think scoring droughts are normal

We are 10th in the acc in offensive efficiency. Of course every team has scoring droughts. Of course I watch Clemson basketball more them other teams but I do watch other teams fairly often. I've seen horrible coaching and scoring by plenty of teams. That doesn't mean it's okay nor does it mean we should be okay with going 5 minutes and only scoring 2 points. Some is on the players of course but so of the fault is on Brownell not being able to come up with plays to get us and open look. Frequently not enough ball movement imo. I'm not okay with being like all the other teams in basketball. I want our boys to be the best. Sorry it's not okay with me for us to not score. Heck I don't like when my 6 year old son's basketball team has scoring droughts.

without a basket. THIRTEEN FRIGGIN' minutes !!!!
That is inexcusable.
They followed that up with a three minute scoring drought and a 16 - 8 run by Miami in the first half, an 11 - 2 run by Miami early in the second half followed by a 7 - 2 run late in the game. That's a 34 - 12 scoring discrepancy.
Nothing about that is "normal".

So you want a HC to burn timeouts to call plays to stop scoring droughts?
"Stopping scoring droughts" should be one of the grading points for the guard position. Apparently Chase couldn't get any foul calls vs Miami and BC like he did against FSU. Live ball takeaways help too--it works for Pitt--but it seems that little Hunter and Galloway are our best options for that, except little Hunter can't score.
The Miami game wasn't really lost by our offense, though we certainly didn't get to the FT line enough. It was lost by our inability to stop their guards and our unwillingness to box out.
Scoring droughts are almost always caused by a combination of poor ball handling and settling for the low-percentage shot the defense gives you. It's essential for players on the floor to recognize these things when they happen, and coaches to teach them how to recognize it.

We played poor D late in the Miami game that is true. They had the ability to get to the rim and we didn't. That is a big reason why we lost. The scoring droughts are certainly on the players as well as the coach tho. I would love to burn a timeout if we are going up and down the court turning the ball over and taking horrible shots while not moving the ball. If PJ isn't able to score inside consistently them our O just goes stagnant. I believe that is on the coach.

Yes, exactly this. We shouldn't need to call 3-4 timeouts in the last minute of every game. Use them strategically, don't just save them "in case"...that can result in "too little too late".

It is nonsense to think timeouts are needed to call a play. The coach can call a play from the sideline or sub in players with plays to run.

I want him to call timeouts to draw up a play. That's different than just calling out a play already in the arsenal.
Call the timeout also to re-focus the team, get a breath, focus on something specific, interrupt negative momentum. A timeout does a lot of things, including the opportunity to draw up a play based on what is happening real time in the game.

That is why you need to be able to play an inside game as well as an outside game! For all those dry spells in one or the other! Good teams are able to play both ways!

It has been a problem for years. We have lost a lot of close games that could possibly have been wins if we could have knocked down a couple of shots even when the offense was struggling. Saturday looked like a repeat of years past unfortunately. Should have won that game at home. Those kind of losses end up biting you in the end. We will soon see how good we are coming down the stretch.
