For the "appreciation" over "expectation" crowd ...

If CU finishes 9-4 and maybe even in T25,will it be filed away as yet another outstanding season that any program should be grateful for?

Or, will you see it as a mild disappointment that must surely be a blip on the radar for an elite program?

Or, will you have to check in with Frantis Marion and get back with me?

I would temper any disappointment by noting that it would be the first time since 2009 that we’ve finished with less wins than the best funded team in all college football Texas Longhorns.

The perception will be mixed among the fan-base. A 9 and 4 record to finish will likely mean we beat three ranked teams on the schedule. Not a bad season compared to historic Clemson teams. Obviously want to see Klubnik keep making strides. I think if mafha and Shipley return. Expectations will be as high as they were before this season.

I can appreciate that.

If you are in the expectation with appreciation crowd like most sane Clemson fans, it is both of the first two.

I would call it disappointing but it would provide a lot of momentum and hope that next year will be better. (Don’t know how else to say that but it still sounded a little cootish to me). We aren’t elite this year and I hope we get back to that level. I always have more hope than I do expectations. Same goes for CU basketball. And I do appreciate the opportunity to attend 6/7 games in Death Valley this year (missed FSU for granddaughter’s birthday party). Those are all special days to me. The fun is in the winning but I can still appreciate a Saturday in Clemson with family and friends anytime I get the opportunity, regardless of the outcome.

the team underperformed. Ever. They have.
And theyre playing better on the back end.

Dern. The Horns have been underperforming since Brown left. And we have unlimited funding and ridiculous facilities -- which makes it stink all the more. Aint nobody on my UT board playing the "coot" card for calling a spade a spade.

And 100% agree the games are always a good family gathering point.

The part that sounded cootish was where it almost sounded like I was saying “just wait till next year”.

A disappointment because of how we lost those 4 winnable games! A squandered year of talent!

Disappointment with optimism about the '24 season. We've been mired in the bottom half of the ACC for most of the year. We've lost to other ACC teams that were mildly improved (largely through the portal) that we should have dominated based on our talent. If we go out and find the ACTUAL best available coaches instead of former Clemson players for a few key jobs I will be extremely optimistic about 2024.

Why don’t you take your worthless, entitled, snowflake backside somewhere? If you don’t, at least shut up! We would be most “appreciative”.

When the ultimate goal has been "championship" given what Clemson has done since 2011 - then its a disappointment looking through things through that lens. There's been an expectation built up for that & if you fall short, then naturally anything is gonna be viewed as "lesser than". As a fan that went through the 90s & 2000s stretch of wandering through the desert, I can honestly say I don't want to see the program fall back to that level anytime soon.

However, if we end up 9-4 w/ a bowl win & possible finish in Top 25, I think that will still be something to hang the hat on, especially given just a few weeks ago we looked dead in the water. Plus, the play we've seen out of young guys that have had to step up in recent weeks has to be an encouraging sign going forward coupled w/ a strong finish to the year.
